It is new technology!!In three years you will see what I mean.. more efficient lights will win out.. they are here to make money not support utility companies..I live in Colorado, I go to grows very often, both legal and illegal. Serious high-volume grows are almost exclusively HID. My opinion on LEDs aside, something tells me if these people could save $5k or $15k a month on their power bills and get the same result they wouldd have switchedd a long ass time ago.
I don't hate LEDs, I use them myself as supplemental lighting. But to grow exclusively with LED and pretend you are getting the same weight as you would with HID is silly.
I only run 8 bulbs myself so forget about what I say, look at the people running 100 bulbs or 200 bulbs. You think they just woke up and said "I know LEDs are better on heat, ventilation, cost half as much to run in power consumption, and produce the same result...but you know what? Fucking YOLO! I'm going to run HID anyway because the power company deserves that extra $25,000 of my money every month! Come on.
While I do not doubt its eventuality, they have been making this same prediction for over 3 years already. Current bottom line is a decent 1000w HPS system can be had for less than $300 while the equivalent LED seems to still price out at something greater than $1000. I recently read somewhere that 7 years is the point you start turning the tide. So yeah, if I were starting a commercial grow and looking at startup costs, I think I certainly would still go HPS.It is new technology!!In three years you will see what I mean.. more efficient lights will win out.. they are here to make money not support utility companies..
Ha! I missed the "per plant" part.Reeling it in. The op still has a 400w hps in a 4x4 room which is a little underpowered. Definitely not going to see 400g per plant and probably be closer to 400g total. I stand by what I said about just getting a 600w and running it hard with 6 plants. Yall could argue about leds for days and have been but it doesn't help anything
I'd like to hear more about this 200 led?i have a tent close to that size, 30x 60 , have a 400 hps on one side and a decent 200 watt led on the other side that actually puts out more light than my hps. i would recommend you not try to cram more hid lighting in that space, i had 2 400s, way too hot, tried a 400 and a 250, still too hot, so i went with the led, and now when i can afford it, i'm going to replace the hps with another led and then i can get rid of my exhaust fan and ducting
don't expect to harvest pounds your first grow or two, but it all comes with a little time.
p.s., getting about 100 grams dry per plant on average, 4 to 5 plants at a time in the tent. some uber growers may pull more out of a 400 but from what i've been reading thats about average
Nice i just read thread start to yours thanks for stepping in. But my sunshine is brighter than yours. Wahahaare we really stomping all over this nice newbies thread where he is asking for help?,,, and turning it into another "Light hashing thread",,, come on guys
its this light, its not a cob but i had an electrical engineer friend that builds lights look at it, its well worth the money.I'd like to hear more about this 200 led?
Oh and the plant still need fresh air. Heat isn't the only reason we run fans. Oxygen builds up in our rooms that our plants produce
I gotta say a cpl a things on this.
This is what I'm doing now because of this thread. Thanks
I did suggest a COBB kit as well as the HID package I listed - didn't see he was height restricted=my bad.
I'll go with building the COBB's!
No AC is your choice. Add some and improve or go COBB!
Grams per watt is a meaningless way to judge growing! With the right style of grow, area size, lighting and of course strain. I've done over 3gpw several times.
If your wise, 1lb under a 400 is possible...
Hmm, think I missed something......He said "per plant"? NOT happening !!!!! The pound total, can happen.....Reeling it in. The op still has a 400w hps in a 4x4 room which is a little underpowered. COBBThis is what I'm doing now because of this thread. Thanks
the poll at the top of the page says 400g per plant lol. 6 plants 2.5-3 oz per plant totally doable but I still think a 400w is a little underpowered. Tent grows don't give you the hight you need imo. You got a light hanging .5 down from the top, your plants 1' away from your light, your pots takes up a foot on the floor and we're talkin hydro too so that may be 2 feet depending on your set up. So you're almost at 4 feet without any plant in there then you got a 2 foot plant, that's tight for me but I like to grow big plants, they produce more.Hmm, think I missed something......He said "per plant"? NOT happening !!!!! The pound total, can happen.....
The rest,,,pretty much spot on! I aagree gree..
