How much did you spend

Wow. Yeah our time is coming. Indoor (even big COB setups will soon be cost prohibitive) is closing fast. Greenhouses at best....outdoors will be the only way. Prices getting stupid low...all over.

What normal sized grower (2000 - 10,000 watters) would even turn the lights on at them prices? I certainly wont. Sumbitch....back in the day i thought this gig would last forever. At least i dont have to worry about prison anymore.

There was a billboard facing the 205 freeway that advertised $90 oz., might still be there, haven't been out that way in a while. The closest dispensary to our house (there are something like 90 in our county) always had about a half dozen options for $100 ounces (the rest were mostly $150-$200+). There are some advantages to being legal.
$300-375 for ounces of medical around me

It's been over a year since I've bought pot. Growing has been good.

Now that my equipment is paid for, in my 2x4 tent it probably cost me about $400 in soil, clones, nutes, etc., and electric to run each crop. If I go with 2 plants, I can very reasonably get 4+ ounces from each. At 8oz (minimum), that's $50 per ounce. As I get better at growing and choosing strains, my yield increases but my costs stay about the same, so I imagine that number will keep going down. There's easily $1,350 in the tent set up, but once I'm over that hump its mostly gravy. I'm not even sure how I would calculate the outdoor, but my rough calculation comes out to under $10 an ounce (6 plants at 8oz each with $400 invested per season... I'm growing small plants.).

I started out small and it spread like a virus. After each of my first 4 indoor grow cycles I made (relatively) major upgrades, going from CFLs to purple LEDs to pre-made COB LEDs to DIY COBs... Simultaneously I converted one closet, then another, then got a tent -- I spent money continuously for the first 6-8 months. I did not keep track, it quickly went from a hobby to an obsession that overwhelmed any sense of practicality.

Since we can get $100 ounces at a local dispensary, doing rough numbers in my head I can easily see we did not break even based on what I spent vs. what I grew on my indoor during the first year. If I were to add in the outdoor, even with only 3 of the 5 plants actually finishing, we're back in the black on the cost of growing vs cost of buying scale.

Now I'm set for spaces and equipment, so moving forward its just clones, seeds, soil and nutes (and the electric bill!!!). We'll definitely come out way ahead this year. And of course if the outdoor finishes well, then its party time.
Rob you have enoughenough light to start up a night club lol

I spent close to $600 about 4-5 years ago. Maybe longer. 400w hps system, max fan, soil, nutes, pots, DIY grow cabinet.
Last year I purchased a 1k system (for like $140 of a dude on craigslist, fuckin steal) with air-cooled reflecter and a light mover...my room is long and narrow. Probably a grand total of just under $1k including all the various nutes and shit I tried.

why dont you become a grower producer on the legal side of things, lots of good money to be made, all above board too

That's a life goal for me. Two big things though, location, and having to know the right people, and I don't have either of those
i guess we are lucky here in Oregon to be one of the early states to legalize, I know a few people already getting thier liscenses to grow, the Rec legal stores here that sale to Rec are also the stores who were already selling to the medical side of things, the oregon govt changed the rules to allow the sale of both from the same strores

Zips in Flint...on the street or the clubs go from 150 - 225$ depending on quality. There is still money to be made....for how long is anyones guess. You can have the top of the top shelf....not many are going to pay more than 2 - 250$ for it. Alot of people will take very good but not super top top quality for 175$. My patients get a hell of a deal. They are happy....and it keeps me doing what i love. If it gets to be too much (almost always - leftovers) i deal with dispensaries every now and again. Overages is what we call it. Not exactly legal but everyones doing it and what the hell are you supposed to do with it? The extras? Med laws are ass backwards.

Problem is I keep feeling the need to expand. I just have a small wardrobe grow, but I'm already thinking of that 600W hps and that grow tent I'm going to buy in a few months. I've probably spent about $400 on my little op, but mostly due to poor planning. Although I hate bleeding money for the grows all the time, when I think about the fact that it's my hobby and I enjoy every moment of it AND I haven't spent that much, I don't feel any guilt. :D

The investment is well worth it, to me atleast. I'll have made all my money back & more after my first harvest. I'm running 3 600w HPS and they have not let me down :P
