How much cfm would i need to properly pull through a 4inc home made c filter-and then through a 6inc cool tube running 400W hps in a 3x3x6 tent? Can it be done with a 155 cfm booster fan. or would i need a 400 cfm inline fan? or something inbetween like 250?

Use the fan that moves the MOST air. Never mind what will just move air through it. Move the MOST air through it at the highest velocity. THAT is how air cooling works. Duh.

Put a rheostat in line (called a dimmer switch) to control your fan speeds.Biggest fan and a way to limit it.

At least if you get a bigger fan with a controller, he won't have to upgrade it when he decides to run a bigger light. :). I went from a 400w > 600w and now a 1k w lol. Wish I had got the bigger fan at the start.
