How many???

This is my second grow so i'm very "wet behind the ears" so to speak. My first grow was a perpetual grow harvesting two plants every four weeks. I would veg those for about 6-7 weeks before sticking into flower room. This go around, i'll be trying a sog putting the clones straight to 12/12. My question is this, if i'm putting the clones in square 6L pots, and they are going straight to flower, how many can I flower under 2 side by side 400w hps? I'm hoping to get about 20 under each one. Is this possible??

I don't know much about sog, but 40 plants under 2 400w's sounds way high regardless of method. Shit, I wouldn't be able to grow 4 of mine under 1... I did veg them for a while, but still, even 20 1sq ft plants will be a 400 covering 20 sq ft. Just sounds crazy to me.

Wow that does seem alot. Maybe a scrog would be easier to control with that many...
Ive never flowered from start. Out of curiosity how much you hope to harvest per plant from a grow like this?

Could you actually fit 40 6l pots under them? What dimentions are pots

The pots I'm gonna use are 7"x7" and are 9" deep. I know I'll only get 7-10 grams off of each plant. The lights are roughly 3' apart and seem to cover a 4'x8' area pretty well. If the pots are all side by side using every available inch of this area, I should be able to cram quite a few in there. I would love to be able to harvest 8 of these babies every two weeks. If they take ten weeks, I would have 40 in my flower area once I get up and rolling. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!!!

What has made you want to go this way instead of setting up a pepetual grow again?

I dont see why you cant give it go... youl never know otherwise.
Cant see a reason for not to work. Just 40 plants is alot to look after.

Good luck man

Thanks littlewing!! I have to change up something because my first grow was in my brothers house (as I have a wife and three little ones), and he has since moved and my grow area is only about 5 1/2 feet tall now. I was not restricted by height at his house, but now im in a new place. This is why I chose to flower straight from clone to get one main cola on each plant. I wish someone with a little experience with clone to flower would give a little info. Oh well, trial and error I suppose....

I am doing something similar....and for my second (serious) grow too.

I have a 5'x5' tent with a 600W HPS ducted lamp.

I grew both AK-47 and Somango mothers.

I took a slew of clones from each. Root Riot tray. 100% success.

I intended to do a 36 2-gallon smart pot SOG in my tent for Crop #2,
but decided to put the, now big, mothers into two of the corners.

So, I have 24 AKs, 6 Somangos, and the two mothers.

This might be a lesson in the learning....who am I kidding, of course
it is, but I am really enjoying the process.

Here is a peek in the tent today:

Seen from above, there appears to be more of a plan :0)

Good luck with your efforts OP!

I tried clone>>>flower - disappointed by results.... I would at very least go a week-two weeks flower, IMO.

I know 6 litre pots sounds small, however, you are going from clone to 12/12....
I think you will be fine with two 400 watt lights...
How tall do you want to grow your plants ?

I'm hoping to keep them fairly short. No taller than 3' i'm guessing. Like I said before, theres only one way to find out!!!:-P

I have five strains that im trying out: White Widow, Black Russian, Blueberry Headband, OG Kush, and Critical Jack Herer

You could also use air pots, they basically airprune your roots for bigger plants in smaller pots. i made one DIY by drilling holes in it.
SAM_0692.jpgI didnt do anything fancy, just a pot that was strong enough to drill thru without breaking it, also note there are holes underneath it so the roots dont swirl and strangle eachother.
SAM_0693.jpgYou can see the root tip turning brown, causing the root to branch in the dirt also avoiding swirling and strangling, its the same concept as topping i guess.

This doesnt work with a really large pot because roots branch themselves automatically when deep enough. with air pruning you can use VERY small pots and get bigger plants, looks liek something you might want to check out. also your soil gets more air so it might dry faster, i suggest you mix some extra coco or perlite in your mix for it to hold moist longer.

Peace out and grow on, its looking really good so far
