How many times do you like to top?

This round, I've only topped once on most. Twice on tall ones. Im debating on topping once more on ones that only been topped once. Normally i top once and LST, i only top twice if LST wasn't sufficient to even canopy. But with the amount i have, LST isn't ideal. Most plants are 14-18 inches so far. Everything is in 1 gals atm. I'll probably transplant soon and flip in 3 weeks or so.20221008_163653.jpg20221008_172415.jpg

I top once at the 4th or fifth, but I grow autos and don't have much veg time. I'll run a photo or two over summer and probs top and train more. I don't do any training bar the topping. It usually breaks dominance enough that the main colas are only a few inches higher than the rest of the canopy.

If I top at the fifth, I remove the lowest node. All of those above have 8 main branches. 8 BFC bruh. Been sticking too 2 in a 2x4 or 1 in a 3x3

I see an over ambitious grow. Your done. Keep the canopy open to air flow now. Less plants to grow more tops thing.

Can you give any of those plants away to make a better grow?
Haha i have another tent don't worry too much. But you're not wrong i got carried away. I have a 5x5, 4x8, 4x4 space, and a 2x5 space for seedlings. I'm still figuring things out. Ultimately i think I'll do no more than 8-12. Probably 8 at a time going forward.

10 2 gallons in a 4'x4' pushed it without a top here. Walk then power walk.

What do you normally do? There's so many ways to grow this plant. Going forward I think I'll do no more than 4-6 going forward in a 4x4 space. But just curious how other people try it.

Tbh, if your short experience I'd go four in a 4x4 to cut down the amount of defol and training needed. I have one auto in a 3x3 and it would be a struggle to fit more in without excessive defoliation and training.

I've seen a guy do 6 in a 2x4 here, but it's constant defol and work. It just depends on how you want to do it. I've filled a 2x4 with one plant, or ran two. With two I had to defol and lollipop heavily.

The single auto in a 3x3 is the first pic in my post above, and the other two 2x4 shots were two autos heavily defoliated and lollipopped, and they only vegged for four weeks.

At least 2 times sometimes i top every branch going just depends on the strain and its structure to begin with like rn im helping a friend with a exo cheese s1 and skunk special grow as there not super experienced themselves theres one cheese s1 thats so vigorous it dont even slow down much from being topped and i topped every branch it has its still going like nuns happening some strains/phenos take it in there stride better than others it just means you allow a lil more veg time there is no right awnser for topping as id say it depends on your situation space and the time you have allocated to finish up the grow

Depends on how many plants you have inside a specific footprint. Your yield will increase with more of the footprint dedicated to colas rather than empty space.

.

I'm going to try three tops to get 8 colas then top the 4 centre colas to get 12 colas total for the plant. I've sniped off the 4 sucker branches at the bottom

I find that the centre colas reach higher because the outer branches have to curve on the bottom. Topping them one extra time might even up the tops.

This gives me 12 colas per plant, 48 colas on 4 plants, for my 4x4 garden. My trellis is 7 x 7 for 49 spaces.

I haven't seen it done before so it could mess things up.

Lol speaking of, i did 16 in a 4x4 space the past 2 runs and didn't enjoy it to much. Became more of a job defoliating and watering. That 4-6 range is what I'll do, just need to time the perpetual better.20220914_215023.jpg20220317_174140.jpg20220424_143829.jpg

Your right, growing from seed i never know. Some just don't take to well to topping. Rn i have a banana og and Carnage Breath from fat cat labz that literally didn't bush out at all after the top. They have that weird space noding. I'm still finding phenos to keep as moms. Want to pick out moms so i can mono crop or just do a few good ones
