how many things are going wrong here?

Here are pics of 2 bag seed plants that have been in the flower closet the first, for 4 weeks, the second for 6 weeks. Leaves going completely yellow then falling off, brown spots around leaf borders. I know that they get yellow leaves during flower, but is this normal? I've included a few pics of the buds on the 6 week plant, still lots of white hairs and time to go.


Both are:

400w HPS 12/12
Roots Organics 707 soil
Water: every other day
Nutes: General Organics BioBloom, CalMag+, BioBud 1x/week
The only differences are their time in the flower closet and the size of the pot (as you can see in the pics)

4 weeks flower in 5 gal grow bag




6 weeks flower in 3 gal plastic pot

yellow leaves with green veins is (Mg) def.

Thanks Vostok. Any advice on the totally yellowed leaves? Is it normal N def during flowering?

One thing I noticed is your watering schedule of every other day. Are you letting them dry or are you arbitrarily watering them no matter what? On the yellow leaves...it doesn't appear to be typical of the normal late flower yellowing...but fix the Mg issue first.

While I could be wrong, I don't think I'm overwatering. I've read so many warnings on RIU that I'm paranoid (even without a smoke!)

I have some 2 ane 3 gallon bag seed plants that are also in the flower closet. They dry out more quickly than the gallon girls. I gave them all a dose of General Organics CalMag+ last night. We'll see if that helps!

If You water them everyday You are overwatering. Give'em 3 - 4 days between waterings. By the size of plants and pots I'd say they could go a week without watering..

Overwatering causes lack of O2 to roots and can cause all sorts of problems. I just wanted to make sure you weren't watering them every two days...whether they needed it or not. If you are being careful to make sure they're drying between watering...then not to worry. Just checking.

Mg is a major element in chlorophyll production, and maybe, by ironing out that shortage, other things (yellowing) may improve too.

Now on these every other day watering...are you adding nutrients to each watering? Normally, when I see symptoms of more then one deficiency, I start thinking lockout from ph or nutrient salts. You could check runoff water next watering to see how high the ppm is. That'll give you a clue to soil nutrient saturation.
