How many shop online for hydro equipment?

Hmmmm....ever consider expanding to London?

Wish I had the money to go out east to set up shop even to the Atlantic provinces. I almost set up a second shop and had quite a few people interest in being part of it but I held off and luckily I did as the price in BC dropped from $1600-1800 to $800-1000 in those two months.

I don't plan to every work for anyone again in my life so need to do what I can to keep the store going. There's a a few directions I can go with but it would still take $50K or so to get the proper amount of stock and a shit load of learning in that year. I can't sell stuff to people if I have to bullshit them which is funny as I learnt that from doing opposite of what my previous employer wanted me to do for like 7 years.

Are you in vcvr?....I'm hoping to be going to BC ( Comox ) during the summer.

Hey Leaf, do you set your clients up with online retailers, or do you have arrangements for discounts with local shops? I'm assuming with the volume you would bring that they could offer some nice discounts.

Remote training won't work. Only a previous store owner or very good employee would fit the bill.

Discounts at the local shop. less volume than you would think. We put a hold on things while we were LP applying.

In Mission. Haven't been to the island much but hopefully do this summer too and check out Tofino and the beaches

I was in Tofino last year...my daughter is a surfer. I want to get to Comox in the near future
Tofino is freaking beautiful, and I've surfed out there myself. Ever take the boat taxi out to Meares Island? If not, it's worth the day trip and hike, some ginormous trees out there on the protected part of the island and some stunning scenery.

I don't really have a choice but to buy online. The little hydro store here in Whitehorse is more of a garden center. I buy my coco and smaller pots, ph down, perlite, but if I need anything like lights or air filters, I get online and order from Vancouver. It's going to suck shorlty because I will be needing nutes come Sept. and shipping is going to kill me up here. I buy only in Canada unless I can't find it then I go to that other place that sells lots of mj supplies.

Yeah, having to buy and ship nutes to northern location is a major pain and expense. I think that if I was as remote as you are, I'd likely stick to making my own organic super soils as it would save a lot of expense and hassle in the long run (while also providing delicious, organically grown medicine bongsmilie) Shipping nutrients just seems like a silly and unnecessary expense considering you are mostly paying for water-weight to be shipped across the country. Another option would be dry powdered nutrients, they would save you a ton in shipping....ever try any of those? I've used the GH Maxi Series powdered nutes in a Lucas Formula grow with great results. They are really cheap and a pouch of powder goes a looooooong way.

I would also check your local Crappy Tire (I'm assuming Whitehorse has one?) as I have seen many of them carrying GH nutrient lines lately. If they don't carry them I'm sure your CT could special order you some and save you on the shipping if you are a GH user.

I have actually been looking into dry nutes. It is so confusing though because there are so many different brands. I like the stuff ( Future Harvest Plantlife Products) I use now...it's easy to mix and I really don't have to think about it...ph the water, measure the nutes and pour.

One of these pouches is like $23 and goes a long way..........would be really affordable for you. You can even use only the MaxiBloom in a Lucas grow at 6-7g/gallon for the duration of the grow, which I did with great results and extreme ease. Next time up I added the MaxiGrow and Koolbloom to supplement things and for more available N during veg. A really cheap way to go, especially if shipping cost is a concern:

Even some of their supplements like the dry Koolbloom comes in a concentrated powdered form, and that stuff works fantastic. A Tylenol-sized bottle will last you years unless you've got hundreds of plants.

I don't have a lot of plants. I just switched from hydro to soilless because of fucking root rot that I could not get rid of after 2 grows. So new learning curve, but hanging in there. I have 6 10" pots in the Bloombox and there's lots of room for bending. I think I will spend some more time looking into dry nutes. Surely they can't be that hard to mix. Just have to find some place in Vancouver that will ship north!

I used the GH Maxi line with soilless with fantastic results, using straight Promix HP with a little added perlite and dolomite lime. Piece of cake to mix.....I found the trick to be heating up a litre or so of RO water in a tea kettle and then dissolving the nutrients in there. They dissolve immediately, pour this mixture into a 5 gallon jug, quick shake and good to go.

Way less mess and quicker to measure out I found......just dump the powder on the scale and voila. After a few mixings, you get to know the exact amount of ph up to add to balance things out and it's just as quick as mixing liquid nutes.

I'm getting involved in an online headshop operation. I've sold pretty much everything under the sun in the past, worked with Walmart, Loblaws', and all those "nice" guys (NOT). So i'm giving gear slingin' a whirl. I think there is a lot of competition in this particular sector but I think there is space for new players to come on board. For end consumers it's great since it brings more variety and price point competition. Perhaps we can work together in some capacity down the road once you and I have our operations up and running.

A while back, I was reading some news clippings about a guy up in Whitehorse that was trying to open a small LP......do you know anything about that or how he's making out? That would be a ridiculously expensive place for such an operation, your electricity rates alone are terrifying.

If mmar comes back i would order online from you, support the cause and a domestic company. Side note; id love to see a grow store sell some super soil mixes. I would also need your brick and mortar as i would build a barn/shop on some land for my next grow.

A lot of the soil's you see in the US like say Foxfarm and GH can't be brought over to Canada because the are organic composts.

I don't grow but did buy my vaporizer online, from a Canadian site.

I do almost all of my shopping online, generally.
