How many plants should I grow?

Hi guys! This is my first thread on rollitup.org.

I've been wanting to grow cannabis for a very long time and now I have the opportunity.
I'm a Medical user, but I don't need a lot of cannabis. I'm wanting to start a grow in my room with a tent.
I was thinking of only doing 1-2 plants at a time. Would that be enough for frequent personal use?
Would it be suggested to grow more plants? How should I grow it? I know there are plenty of tutorials, but is there a method above the rest for newbies?

I need it to be somewhat discrete, I'm still with my parents and they support my passion for wanting to grow cannabis. The problem is, we have a very Mormon family and they can't know. It needs to be as discrete as possible smell wise.

I have 4 carbon filters and an ozone genny and you and still smell it especially during the last couple weeks of flower. Move out of your parent's house before you start growing.

You can get anything from 0 to 8 ounces of dried buds from one plant or even more! It depends on the level of your skills, setup and the strain you choose.

Truthfully, it ain't gonna happen. The smell will be an issue. Even with a big ass carbon filter... The fan noise will give it away. Check out the strain from Dr.Greenthum called incognito. Some people say you can't smell it unless you stick your big ass nostrol and start sniffing it like its your last line of blow. Good luck to ya bud.

If your parents support it and it's their house then go for it as long as the family you refer to doesn't live in the same house. My setup doesn't let out any noticeable smell at all when the tent is closed and fan and filter are running. It's a whole different story when I need to open the tent for waterings or to examine plants outside the tent. Then my entire apartment fills with dankness.

Best way to go would be to grow two at a time in case one dies.

Tents are nice. If you put a tent inside a closet then you are adding another layer of security and smell control. You need to vent the heat out of the closet though. All lights create heat. If there is an attic above your room then this would be a good place to pump the heat.

Northern Lights autos are a great way to begin growing. It's rumored that NL doesn't smell so much. I've grown probably 5 NL x Big Bud plants and they are almost impossible to mess up. Just plant in quality soil, give them clean water and good flowering nutes and lots of light then harvest in 10 weeks.

Your fan and filter combo are probably the most important element to stealth.

Say you bought 2x2 tent and put a 4 inch fan and carbon filter in there with a 150 w hps light you could grow 1 really nice 1-3 ounce autoflower in a #3 (3gallon) pot. Every ten weeks you'd have a few ounces of bud. I'm tempted say that under those conditions you'd most likely get around 1.5 ounces but you might be able to do better. 250 w hps would yield better if you can manage the heat.

It's nice to start indoor plants in the fall or winter. Summer temps are tough to deal with.

A 150 w with a vortex fan will use some electricity. Basically your parents will be paying for your medicine A setup like that costs me about $30 per month to run, but I live in an expensive area.

OP, how much money do you have to spend? I can put together a shopping list for your situation.

You can easily do what your are trying to do.

If you tell me any average amount you look for to smoke in a four month period, I can use that to build the list as well.

Just buy some meth you don't even have to grow it.

One auto then a month later plant another... By day seventy or so, you will have one crop every month ish. Use carbon filters and get those glades that plug in, keep stocked with replacement smelly shit. Plug this in outside your room if there are plugs, worthless inside.

Don't get hps cause you can't run,it's of fans cause of noise like someone pointed out. Use cheap led until you can afford better. Apollo gives warranties at least...

Use a small tent.

You'll have small but nice returns and very little smell or noise. Except the dirt smells like dirt.... Soooo do your work the in the tent and planting when the noses you are hiding from arent around.
