How many plants per light?

I am considering starting a grow room, and boy! There sure is a lot more to it than first thought. Some of the information available is conflicting, and it is not always easy to know which source for information is correct :-?

So i have come to you good people here at rollitup, for your educated opinions on a couple of things :blsmoke:

Firstly, how many plants is it possible to grow with a 600watt globe? I have heard opinions from 12 - 30. There would be more than one single globe in the grow area, and i am trying to calculate just how much i can grow.

Also, does anybody have a favourite 600watt globe and ballast. What globe would you recommend? I am also interested in ventelated globes. Any brand names you could recommend? links?

Thanks in advance.

it depends on your style of grow - a few big plants or many small plants. if i remember from your last post about this - you have a huge space so a lot of options.

i was thinking of using ebb and flow. still not sure yet (see my other thread :) ) .... the space is not the biggest concern, but i will have a limited ceiling height - probably about 8feet. The main limitation i would have is than i could only operate using a certain amount of watts. i would be using generators. two of these ( i would have 2 back ups also) Boliy Pro3600SI Digital Inverter Generator (click here to order) , and i planned on using them for the flowering room using a total of 10 x 600watt hps globes.

I would really love to know of a good 600watt globe and ballast that would suit my needs most..

I think you'd be OK with any reputable ballast/lights system manufacturer. Just check the warranty and the store's return policy and then try it. Experience is the best teacher anyway.

Provided you purchase a decent quality lighting system, i think it is the purchase of the bulbs is what you should be agonizing over :-)

why do you say that, email??

I was hoping that i would purchase bulbs with ballasts included, so i don't have to be an electician just to plug everything in the right places :) ...do you think that using a generator would mean the bulbs could 'blow' easier?

Thankx very much for your reply by the way :peace:

I say that because there are a lot of bulb choices (different light spectrums/lumens/etc..) you can buy the complete set but you'll want to know which bulb you want to use.

I only want to use hps bulbs in the flowering stage. i have been looking around at a few on line, but any recommendations would be great. i would only use one mh bulb in the vege room for the mothers, and use flouro bulbs for clones....to cut cost.. :peace:
