That's fine for now. You don't even need the light until they're out of the soil.

By 150W, I assume you mean 150W equivalent which is IIRC 42W. Once they're out of the ground, you can put as many CFLs as you've got.

You notice how the sides of your box are the brightest? That's because that bulb puts out most of its light from the sides. When you rig up your other light, you might figure out a way to have them mounted horizontally.

However, seedlings that are greeted with the light you'll be using tend to stay more compact, ie: need light pretty quick or will stretch, become leggy, etc.:blsmoke:

well, i assume of course that he'll be watching and put light on the second they get out of the soil. I do. It's like christmas.

Well, you know what they say about assume. Not leaving the light on could find the plant popping up the very second a guy/gal 's head hits the pillow, and becoming a 5" two leaf leggy monster by the time guy/gal arises. IMO, it's just insurance to leave the light on.

5" overnight? your seeds must be on crack. That early, you could always just bury them high when you transplant.

Seeds not on crack . . . I just sleep late. You've gotta point there about deepening the plant.
