How many gallons does a 40lb Bag of Soil fill?

It's kind of a noob question, but it's also just for growing so, em I just put it here...

Anyways, yea that's the initial question, also does anyone know where I could buy Fox Farm in bulk? Or would it just be more economically to buy a 'general' brand soil in bulk and mix all the natural fertilizers myself? If so, any suggestions?

I purchased a 40 pound bag of FF Ocean Forest and I was able to fill two 5 gallon pots with maybe two to three gallons worth of soil left over. While searching for the lowest price last month I came across a website that sells in bulk.. but only by the pallet.
