how many days until you give up on seeds?

I have popped 4 seeds. It's been 6 days and still nothing popping up. Im using the same process I've always used and have mostly had seeds pop up in 3-4 days. I soak jiffy pellets in ro water phed to 6. Make a small hole 3/4-1 inch deep, drop seed and lightly cover. Set humidity dome on heating mat inside small tent in darkness and wait. Just wondering how long I should wait until I give up on them?

I will go 1 week...then I'm digging to see wtf.

When I pop seeds into jiffy pellets they're generally popping helmets above the ground in 2 or 3 days it seems like. Last seeds I popped directly into soil seemed to get above dirt a lot slower, though.

I give up after 48 hours. The last seeds put to dirt were 2 years old. They popped in 12 hours. Wet paper towel, kept at 83°f.


10days? I'm out on that. If its more then 48hours. I consider them trash.

Better safe than sorry. Even if it doesn't germinate after 10 days you could still try to scuff em a lil bit and try the paper towel method afterwards. Or I guess if you dgaf just toss em

Look up hydrogen peroxide, use a paper towel in a baggie. You could try scuffing the edges with sandpaper. After that, a few Hail Marys and wave some chicken feet over them.

If they look dark and water logged, they ain't gonna pop.

If they don't try to stick a tail out in two days, it's probably going nowhere.

I have had one or two stick a tail out and stop for a week, but they had split in the first 24hr.

Make sure your heat mat is not overheating and frying the seeds. This is where the paper towel method is better than straight soil. You can at least see what's going on. If you decide to dig in and they still haven't cracked I'd throw them in water then paper towel.

Well I popped more of the same seeds. This time I did the paper towel method. I have to say it is a lot better seeing what's going on. I popped northern lights, candyland, runtz muffin and orange cookies x nichol. Had percent. I cut open the jiffy pellets. All seeds cracked open and nothing. I'm thinking that I either drown them or cooked them with the heating mat.

Glad you got some seedlings. I strongly suggest a water germ at 75F and only planting to 1/4" after germ. Paper towel method is brutal to micro roots.

"Nothing" ? As in the seeds died ? I don't understand. Pictures look good.
