How many can I fit under a 400 watt hps?

I currently have a closet grow with cfl's but I want to upgrade to a 400 watt hps. The strain I want to grow is an auto flowering strain that only gets about 12 inches tall and 10-12 inches across. How many of them can I fit under a 400 watt hps? Thanks!

hey dude i use totes and i put 15 females in each and get around an oz wet per plant sometimes less sometimes 2 ozs wet ps start a shitload and make ur own seed run

400 watt is about a 3x3 area. so depending on what size pots you use. you can figure out the math on that

around 8 plants if you figure 1 plant per square foot. 50 watts per square foot. if ur plants are 12 inches across then thats perfect for 1 plant per sq foot.

just cut that top nug in my avatar and it weighed 20 grams wet and i still have the bottom half and i counted 122 seeds in it purple jem x purple mazar x blueberryx lebanese 100 % autoflower let me know what u think

i use totes about 3.5 ft long by 2 ft wide by 3ft deep and can fit 2 under my light then wrap mylar all around

to get the most lumens per sq ft use 400 3x3 600 4x4 1000 5x5

That's what I want to do. I grew 2 plants and seemed like too much trouble for like an ounce and 1/2 dry from each plant. So I figure I better throw in like 10-15 plants so it can be worth it. thanks for the replies on that issue
Does a 400 watt get too hot? Like I said they would be in a closet, the closet itself is about 11 ft long and about 2 ft wide

its winter here just keep the heat down if it does

its still gonna get hot. no matter where youre growing you need air flow. and youre gonna need to pull air though a hood especially in a closet

Like those air cooled hoods?
