Some can be pretty damn loud.

All fans are more quiet when they're hooked up to ducting, especially insulated ducting, so keep that in mind when you first plug your next one in...

My old CAP fan was super loud. It was a 6" high output. I'm using a 4" sunleaves windtunnel right row that's super quiet...like 1/4 the CAP, but also about 1/2 the airflow. I can only hear the air moving, pretty much.

Some people use speed adjusters to turn their fans down a little and reduce noise. There's been trouble in the past with some speed controllers with certain fans...but they can work well and are another option if noise becomes a problem. Another solution is to build a small box that holds/insulates the fan. You can use wood or a rubbermaid.

I heard the sunleaves brand is one of the most stealth and quiet. I ordered the cheap 4 inch inline fan from htg supply, It was super loud even hooked up to ducting with a scrubber and a fan speed controller. Ended up using 3 of 10 mm computer fans, 2 for exaust and one to blow over tops of plants. You can't hear a thing unless you put your ear to the cabinet. Temps never get above 85 degrees. The best part about it is they only costed 10 bucks each fan and they move like 75 cfm each.

It helps to mount them from some sort of rubber of bungee. I have to mount mine with the flow horizontal to do this but it helps. And yeah a speed controller so you can dial it down a bit. They are loud as hell when not hooked up to anything so don't go off of that.

I was trippin about the same thing. I have to sleep where I keep my grow tent. I got a 6" sunleaves windtunnel.. This thing is legit. I can hardly hear it when it's all hooked up and in the tent.. Go sunleaves you won't regret it. Super quiet
