How long should I veg??

I am growing under cfls. The master kush plants are four weeks from germination today. Is there a basic rule of thumb of how long to veg. Is it simply the longer I veg the better my yield? They look pretty healthy But I'm not sure how long to give them and how much it matters. Thanks guys and gals....

It depends how much room you have to grow. There's also different techniques for bushier plants (supercrop, LST, topping, SOG/SCROG)

Let's say you simply grow your plant in veg until it's 2 ft. in height (4-8weeks?) You can expect it to be atleast 4 ft. by the time it's ready to harvest.

Also depends how much light you have, you need sufficient wattage for good growth.

you can switch to 12/12 whenever you want. BUT, its smarter to switch after you have the amount of nodes you want. for example it would be unwise to switch to flowering right BEFORE a new node is about to appear, ya know? basically 1 month of veg = small plant and 3 months of veg = big plant ;)

I'm just messin but I thought I would walk the plants around with pins for a while before I pinched out the main terminal and get a blast of side growth and a couple of colas to mess with.
I have a good three feet upwards to use but it's tight down below. The pots are predrilled for strings so I will lst whatever needs to be. Once I go into flowering will I still be able to list right up unitill the end??
Whatcha think... Is it a plan or what should I do. I'll take any advise at this point. I think I needed a bigger box. Lacks easy access which is a major drag. Thanks....BUT!!! I have a lot of bulbs LOL

I personally never LST once well into flowering, By that point I just let the plant do it's thing, if I get a cola or two that get a little too tall I may bend a little and tie it down. as far as how long to grow thats all personal. I like veggin for 2mo that way I know I get a strong stable female growing

I was just thinking though how big are your pots? if their going to be the permanent home then you should makes sure to ont let em too big to get rootbound. I always went a gal per foot + space. so If Im growing 4-5ft bushes I use 6gal pots. but that's me.

Thank you Sir.. May I please have some more.. I'm sitting here laughing my ass off while in a deep morning stone wondering what the hell that even means and where did I hear it.
:-(
Hey Bud.. I thought if I pinned the plant across the pot I would initiate some good growth out of the leaf axiel terminals. I had planned on tying that growth back. I made an error however and never pinched out the main terminal. I never sent the signal that the terminal was no more. I'm a simple outdoor gardener so I'm becoming more confused on what my MO should be from this point out. Maybe I will just pinch them and pin the new potential cola growth around for awhile. You think I should pinch??

I was sorta thinking about the two month mark or so but I may have slowed myself up a bit by my "method". They are in 2.5 gallon buckets and there they will stay. I have a lot of non-weed ornamentals on the back 40 acres (well 2) in pots that I take cutting off and have always found that even root bound plants if they receive enough water and nutrients can function just fine. I hope I have the chance to see how root bound POT plants respond. If ANYONE has any ideas on how I can plan for the future I would be thrill to hear of it!!
Thanking you in advance for your cooperation.

First off I would def transplant into bigger pots especially if you want to veg a little longer. You can get all sorts of problems from being root bound. If the entire pot fills up with roots their won't be enough soil to hold water so the roots can take up the broken down nutrients slowly. Meaning if it's all roots the water will just go right through the pot and the roots won't be getting watered. If you lst and top i wouldn't do them at the same time. Maybe top wait a week or so then lst then top so fourth.

Your right Sir but I have four 2.5 gallon pots which max out the space in my box and no way to go bigger. I'm going to have to play it by ear a bit and I have cheated in the past by watering more often and leaving a pan beneath each plant so it can wick a little back up. Tight is OK but bound up I really don't want. If you miss a watering and your toast.
I started by lsting but pinched as I wasn't getting any vertical growth from the nodes. It was never going to happen until they were pinched once. Thanks for the help...

A month from seed today. Little slow but seem very healthy.
