How long should I veg to get about 4.oz a plant using fox farm nutes and soil?

You should judge when to flip them by the available space you have & how much training you plan to give them as opposed to how much weed you want to harvest. With a 1k light you could get more than a qp per plant but your tent sounds a bit narrow in depth which means it'll be real hot in there. Be sure you've got a ducted exhaust fan or you are gonna have heat issues.
Personally I like to flower out in 7 or 10g pots & usually harvest 3-5 oz per plant depending upon strain & conditions. There are 2 schools in veg time: more plants;less veg or more veg time; less plant count. Obviously you can fit a lot more 3G pots than you can 7g pots but you will pull much more bud off the plants in 7s yet wait longer in veg phase. I think a longer veg, I try to go 7-10 weeks for clones & maybe longer with plants from seed but my early veg cabinets run on cfls which promote slow growth. I top each plant several times, tie down the tallest branches to even out the canopy, LST the living shit out of them, supercrop all the tallest nodes, and bend every internode I can get my fingers on to even out the canopy & expose as much nodal area as possible to the lights.
A good rule of thumb is 2/3...when your plants are 2/3 as large as you want then flip to 12/12...they will grow another 30% during bloom. The key is to veg until your plant is as large as it can be while still allowing you're lights to penetrate into the canopy. If you keep the canopy as even as possible through training or a scrog net all the bud will be the same uniform size. Untrained plants will grow a single bud on top which is fine for a sog- faster turnaround but a golf ball sized bud at each cola. It's possible to overveg because your 1k will only penetrate so deep: the only viable buds will be at the top 9-12 inches of the branches & the rest will be good for making hash or edibles. So that being said allow your plants to fill in the tent with as many nodal sites that form buds as possible, keep the canopy as even as possible, and spread those colas out to allow light to the lower nodes & you'll maximize yields.
Quick question do you think If i were to put a netting down and shove the new kinda wimpier growths that come from the top under a new thread as it gets taller and keep doing this to keep the plant trained growing horizontally versus vertically I could make more use of my space? or should I stick to just doing my best to top and get a bunch of tops and even out the plant at the top? And I'm not new to growing I'm I know these plants are very resilient so I have no problem bending the branches a bit. :) Let me know

I'm with what greenhouse said, don't try an focus your grow based on how much OZ's you want to grow, just focus it on growing healthy plants, theirs things you can do to try and increase your yield YES, but they come with some trail and error and practice, Also longer veg times, But first grow the best plant or plants you can, than worry about yield!

Yes but any training will extend your veg phase a bit longer. If you tie down the main branches the side branching will eventually becomes all new colas in time. If you pinch & bend the shit out if those wimpy branches they will fatten up as well. I pinch in between every node I can get my hands on during veg; called supercropping- you can control your canopy by pinching the tallest colas to slow them down and/or leaving the lowers alone to catch up. The plant will favor the tallest colas as mains & those will grow larger than the rest slightly which can shade out the other tops you may have developing. If all the tops are a uniform height the plant will not trigger a main cola & all the cola buds will be a uniform size which can help maximize yields.

now that I'm thinking about it, whats a good pot size (gal.) for and indoor grow? I feel like 7-10 gallon like you guys were saying? What is LST? Low Stress Training?

Research,research,research.........you r asking questions that imo you should already no the answer to...before coming on to general mj growing you should first have at least the basic knowledge of these simple questions you r asking......spend a bit of time on newbie central where all this information is readily available.........get your setup sorted and by then you will have half a clue wot your on about.......No offense my freind but asking a SIMPLE question about the size of container you should use........go back and start again.....I stayed on newbie central until I was confident enuff to hold a civil conversation with a seasoned grower and imo this is how it should be........it's the same as everything in life.....earn your stripes before you move on......Yes......

Yep...sounds more complicated than it is but basically you want to try & spread out the colas so they are growing almost horizontally; they always want to grow straight up but if you keep bending them out wide or tying them down they will fill out bushier & eventually be trained to grow the way you want them to. Again it depends upon the space you have to work with. I prefer 7 or 10g pots because 5s just don't yield enough for my efforts. It's better to wait & veg out longer to get the plants the way you want them before flipping to bloom. I've been disappointed at yields in the past to later realize I should have vegged them out longer & maximize yields but that's all part of the learning process I guess.

You can get really nice yields out of 5 gals. If you have a height restriction and don't want to spend your whole life training, 5 gals will work. I train mine but use no screen and get an average of 4 oz per plant, usually more, depending on strain. If you veg longer and train in veg only, like I do, 4 ozs is pretty reasonable.

Too many people growing for size/weight quality/flavor is most often overlooked. Begin again...
tell me more?
the way I've always seen it as long as the plant is grow/dried and cured correctly the unique flavor/smell the strain has will do it's job as to being what it is.

Synthetic fertilizers V.S Organic fertilizer both contribute different and unique attributes. Anything that you feed your plant or expose it to will affect size, color, weight , flavor and effect. Ever notice how a homegrown tomato has a bright flavor and tartness to it and a very wholesome tomato color and flavor. Now go buy some synthetically fed over worked pale hot house tomato and taste the difference. The hot house tomato was not grown with love or care. It was raised from seed to hurry up and produce the most and biggest fruit that it can and that usually comes in the form of shoving nutrients down its neck from day 1. color , taste and appearance are all secondary. Take a strain , can be any strain and grow one organic , grow one with synthetics and grow one outside in the dirt and let it take its nutrients from the soil. they are all the same plant but they will all taste different

Does that mean, it's just a mater of flavor when it comes to organic vs. hyrdo? Personally, in all the years I've smoked, I've taken what the dealer had. If it got me stoned in a good way, I was very happy. The smells and tastes were perks. The chemical structure that causes the buzz is mainly what I and most are after, right? But then again, I've never been really afforded the opportunity of choice. and hell, when they first introduced orange juice not from concentrate, I never went back.

Im a senses kind of guy I like to grow for quality and flavor/smell. There are many more differences between the two but then it goes into a more scientific and analytical direction that can be blathered on for hours. Synthetics tend to push a plant faster and farther and in my opinion there is some things that get lost in translation
