Usually you can put it in soil as soon as you see the taproot breaking through the seed. But you will probably get a better sprouting % if you wait for it to get a little bit longer. Don't leave it germinating too long because it may soak up too much moisture which will kill the seed because it will over-hydrate the new root. (I have had this happen)

I usually put the light on right away, but I'm pretty sure that it has no use until the sprout comes up.I put the light on right away because the sprout is usually unpredictable and it could pop up in the middle of the night and it won't get light until you check on it next.

Haha good luck with that, document some results (if you feel like it) because new information is always valuable..

I've started all of my plants from seed... by putting them directly into soil... after 5 days I see the plant break the surface.... why do you need to put it in cleanex to see if it grows.... it's a seed... it's what they do lol

Directly in soil just the way nature intended. Make a hole with a pencil or pen one inch deep, plant, cover with soil and water. Why add a bunch of extra steps, and unneeded stress to the plant ?

I know a lot of people like the paper towel method but the only reason I see for it is so you can see something happening, some will say it is so you can sort out the ones that don't germ, but I think you'd kill at least that many by handling them so much. If you buy quality seeds how many don't break soil anyhow ?

I guess you'll do as you want but I think the best way is to plant it right in the soil, the way it was done before paper towels.

I'm with ya on that one!!! I'm a patient guy... I can wait the 5 days to see something happen.... but I can't wait the months it takes to have it all finished!!!!:'(
