How long have investigations gone on?

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right section of the forums to post this question, however I couldnt find a specific section regarding this issue. I am well aware of the techniques and endless resources at the dispense of local and state LEO's. My question is how long would you expect police to look at a grower before making a move or moving on. I know in large operations this could go on for years but in a single grow op would you expect police to get a warrant and come soon as they discovered what they thought was information pointing towards a grow. Ive searched news articles online and they are very brief when speaking in terms of time put in on a investigation. For example if a friend suspected the police were looking into a friends grow and subpeonaed information regarding the subject like utilities bank records etc. So my friend took down the grow ( and he suspects this is why they havent come they see the power usage went down suggesting its over) how long do you all believe they would continue to subpeona records a month a year? If any of you know of any busts and know the amount of time the police spent observing before making a move please share.

I know in the state concerned police have 48hrs to execute a search warrant from when it is issued and information in a warrant cannont be stale, however information is rarely considered stale in grows as they are typically ongoing operations for example Johnny having a joint in his ash tray one week ago would be considered stale information as its not reasonable to believe a single joint is still present one week later. Where as Johnny has a kilogram at his house would not be considered stale a week later as its reasonable to believe with that amount something may still be present in Johnnys home.
Well with a grow op information is typically never stale as i would understand it as a grow op is a continual on going day in day out operation.

Please dont get paranoid guys for no reason but be careful never get too comfortable never trust anyone.... Johnny is in a mess right now for trusting someone hurts everytime

Plan your grow properly.

If you're distributor level and harvesting dozens or hundreds of plants at a time, ensure you have a backdoor.

If you're growing indoors as a hobby or even a production setup, ensure you've configured your presence in the operation as tentative, in that you can word or work your way out quickly.

For instance, in an example operation that has 24 plants continuously flowering and a separate veg area, I'd recommend running periodic 'drills' in that you can ensure your op can be taken down and relocated within 20 minutes top. Some ops can be moved within 10 minutes.

It is all about planning and foresight. See what is or may be coming so you know in advance how to better react.

Thanks for the response spek - Johnny's grow couldnt be taken apart in ten minutes no need to explain further it is gone which is good, sad but good. Your advice is wise though always have an exit strategy and possibly a back up if you have two you have one is you have one you have none. Its silly to cry over spilt mik but were more wondering if Johnny will ever be able to start again at this location or he should just give up being that things dont feel right. Again really wondering whats the longest people have heard of them looking into a single location without doing something or moving on ..... or if the opinion is they will just subpeona utilites records every few months for ever as it takes them very little effort and they show up to the job day after day and get paid regardless they will always be there and always be able to check on johnny

i would say give it at least a year

johnny should run a bunch of computers or something else with a high power draw, near where he was with the lighting and see if they come sniffing back around. remove everything thats illegal just in case and see if they are still watching. if not, you are good to go.

Johnny hasn't seen anyone sniffing around but hes not a hobbyist so he expects they would keep a distance. Someone he believes he mistakenly trusted asked a question regarding where johnny discarded of his waste which has never been asked by any other growers in johnnys entire decade of growing and finds this to be very odd as this information could be used to harm him as they likely have no other proof of johnnys doings besides high utility records....

Johnny loves the tomato and herb idea his only concern is will they still try and make a conspiracy case even if it wont hold up also could they take johnnys equipment even if they only found legal herbs just because of suspicion?

If I were ever *busted*, I can state for proven fact that I could have a full 24 plant perpetual completely set up from a single clone in 55 days.

Proven. Fact. Whether 'Johnny' should do it, is purely at 'his' discretion.
