How long does silicone REALLY take to dry?

Doing some DIY here and wondering how long does silicone really take to dry? The tube says 3 hours...yeah right! I'm not trusting that. And whats the best environment to make it dry faster? Oh yeah the silicone is clear if that matters.

Hope you aren't trying to make DWC buckets with it. Didn't work at all for me.

I tried to use that stuff around the bulk heads of my rdwc. Didn't work. At all. Had to get threaded fittings and rubber seals.

i agree atleast a full day ! no chance is that going to be dry in 3 HOURS !

To tell you the truth this may not work, but I have to get my res temp down cheapest way possible. It stays @ 80 and locking out nutrients.

I just used some threaded fittings from HD to make it work.

I converted a cooler into a mash tun.

Yeah, 80 is bad. You should look into a Compost Tea if running high. Your roots will thank you.

My cooler has some "special" spout that has a unique thread. The fitting threaded in but is off just a tad and leaked.But hey, when Walmart rolls back prices you make a choice. Lets hope $17 difference isn't a headache. A compost tea? Like Heisenbergs microbes?
