How long can you Store Ganga before it degrades?

Would like to hear the opinions of growers that can talk from actual experience.

Obviously it depends on how you have dried and cured your bud, let's assume you have dried and cured your bud properly.

Used Zip locked bags and then vacuum sealed the zip locked bags in bundles of About a Pound ( standard measurement on here )
For arguments sake .........
Lol

Stored the vacuem sealed bags in a light proof container left in a room that's temp controlled between 25-27 degrees Celsius ( bout 80f ).

How long before the gear starts to degrade in quality?

How long before its no longer considered "medical grade"?

Any better ways to preserve the bud in order to make sure it does not degrade during storage?

Hope to hear from some pro storage stoners with some tips and tricks.

Happy toking :peace:

Was referring to your screen name LOL

your answer is Indefinately
Hahahahaha
I didn't get it!
Lol

So the above storage method and storage condition would allow Indefinate storage without degradation........

So the medical shops don't put an "expiry" on there product?

@Indefinately

This is the way I do my jars and it's the best method I have ever used to store my weed. It's also the cheapest option, too! *NOTE* I use the wide-mouth adapter, myself. She is demonstrating the regular size adapter...but either way...

Nice Methos @tstick

My question was ,

When stored correctly.
Dried/cured and vacuem sealed.
How long before the product starts to degrade?

Do medical dispensaries place an expiry date on there product even when stored correctly?

I assumed there still would be some level of degradation to the product over time.

@RM3 said that it lasts "Indefinately" - lol

Which was surprising to me as i believed there still would be some type of "expiry".

But I'd take @RM3 word for it!

Many don't dry/cure and store there product correctly so there would obviously be degradation over time.

But for those who do, going on what @RM3 said, can have top quality product stored Indefinately without any degradation.

@Indefinately...Well, technically, it's going to degrade no matter what method is used to store it....and month-by-month you will be able to detect slight (more or less) differences like change in flavor and color....but the idea of long-term storage is to retard that degradation as much as possible in order to preserve the flavor/smell.

Using the method I posted above, I have been able to maintain a fairly consistent flavor profile of the weed for at least a year!

But, if you aren't concerned about preserving flavor, color and smell of the weed, and your question is more a matter of "How long does weed maintain is psychoactive effect?"....then I would guess it might maintain it for years. Sure, it might be dry as dust by then and taste like brown nothing....but I'll bet you could catch a buzz...

In MY experience, dispensary weed is mostly unimpressive. Some dispensaries are better than others, of course, and maybe some maintain a freshness date....but I doubt it. They likely would just lower the price the older it gets and then finally end up using it to make pre-rolls! LOL! ;)

If it's dried and cured PROPERLY you can vacuum pack it and put it in the freezer and it will be exactly the same for at least a year, probably longer, but I haven't tested that yet. I have a deep freeze I've used for storage before and it works great, but your seal has to be good enough to keep it dry. If you store it in a frost free freezer it's not that important apparently since people do freezer cures in frost free freezers. Just make sure to let the pack come to room temperature before you open it so you don't get a bunch of condensation in the bag/container

Airtight storage in the fridge is the next best thing for long term storage IMO.

I agree with RM3 above. I store mine in a closet in the middle of the house (lowest, most consistent temperature) in total darkness. Most of my older product appears to be the same, maybe a little more dank in aroma, than when I first shifted it to long term storage. The color has turned a little more 'brown' on the product that's over 2 years in storage.

If anything, the buzz has gotten stronger as it has aged.

I've had good results storing 18-24 months - still had fruity taste & smell and full potency. I vacuum-seal Mason jars with this cheap pump - works really well - and store in the fridge. They don't lose much green color this way either.

Properly cured, i have herb over two years old and it is fresh as the day i put it in there. No degradation in color or potency. Use mason jars, freezer bags both are fine. If not cured properly ya get water seperation in the form of frost. Freezer burn can happen with color changes. Avoid it.
