This is my 1st successful grow, I have a SSH outdoor almost ready to harvest and was wondering how long before harvest should I stop with nutrients and how mch and pretty much how to flush? I've read it gives a bad taste if you don't, any comments or advise would be greatly appreciated. I'll post some pics soon thnks

In soil people will start flushing 2 wks before determined harvest.
In hydro I used to do just a 24 hour flush before harvest with ph'ed tap.
I did an experiment last harvest of a 4 day plain tapwater flush to yellow back some leaves (I trim them anyway),and I noticed a whiter ash and smoother smoke before the cure.I am going to experiment with 50% reduced nute strength flush 1 wk before harvest with last two days plain tap.I feel a flush is good for overferted plants, and is needed less or not at all using an organic grow.
Anyway my passive hydro with synthetic nutes will get a flush in some form or another for atleast 4 days before harvest for now on.

it really depends on the plants and the nutes. I have one plant with a very mild taste, so i stop 2 weeks before, everything
Another i have, strong smell, strong taste, i stop 1 week before.

The last week or two i do just water and sugars. i dont even pH it. just tap water thats been out for an hour or so, and sugar cane honey. Molasses work too, possibly better, but they grow sugar cane here, and the honey from it is rich and no chems in it whatsoever

i try to stop chems 2 weeks prior, and organic stuff 1 week prior otherwise, yea scrog is right, good soil is the way to go.

im an hydro grower and i don't flush but do back the feed off last 3days befor chop down.... the buds hit all 3spots (1) taste lush (2) smells very good (3) good strong high............. happy high times and all that shiz :bigjoint:

Thanks for the feed back, also I'm wondering if it should have a much stronger smell? I'm not able to tend to them alot and I don't know exactly how long its been flowering. Pics will help with an idea on how long to go. I also was wondering about drying and curing approx length of time, and methods the you guys know work well.

If you went the organic route it is almost impossible to flush out the solids trapped in the soil. If you went the synthetic route I would suggest flushing with molasses every other watering, and regular PH'd water inbetween for 2 weeks. The last week I would Use only regular PH'd water.

Flushing is not needed in most cases, but if you have massive salt build ups the plant will not use its reserves in the stems, leaving the taste a little less than optimal. If max weight and potency are your primary concerns, keep feeding it up to 1 week from harvest.

If you want the best taste and smell, water the plant with compost teas every 2-3 weeks. For me the AACT's have been the best thing I have added to my garden!!!

I grow outside organically. I never let my soil become void of nutrients. However I'm not feeding weekly either. I rely on cover crops in the winter, compost in the spring, and very light applications of fertilizer 2x-3x in the summer and until harvest. I don't flush because in my case it won't do anything but waste water.

I know the pics aren't the best, also theres a pic on here with brown on a bud. I don't know if its just dead dried leaves of if its something serious?

but rot second picture chop that shit off and stop overwatering, also your bucket is really tightly packed with soil and cant breath well, transplant in the ground if you can, poke holes in the soil, cut bottom off something would be nice. If you dont feel comfortable with that i would at least aerate the soil with some poked holes. the foliage around it is not good eather, rubbing against all the wet leaves and stuff makes the budrot spread.
