How hot is too hot?

DUH!!! I just put the thermometer in the actual grow area, at about the same hieght as the plant tops. 90 deg. DAMMIT! The thermometer read 75 to 80 JUST OUTSIDE the growing area. So it would appear that I have a temp. problem. How hot is too hot? These things are supposed to thrive in the tropics with 90+ temps and 80%+ humidity for gods sake. Now I find that it gets hotter tahn i originally thought in there. I haven't set up the vent system yet, I believe that will cool it down. No wonder they are burning!!! It's about 87 in the area with the plants. Will they b ok for a day or 2 more?

i had the same problem and i got my temperature hygrometer gague too late. i only have 3 seedlings left, one is strong and doing well , one is weak, and one is very slow and taking a long time to sprout. I have a 600w and it gets to 95+ since i don't have AC in this massive house and outside temps are 80-90 F. Venting will help, but its hard work for the plants, from my experience. Try to get it down to 83 to 78. even 85 should be OK, although Jorge Cervantes says that Cannabis virtually stops growing at 85 F, i think you should be ok with air and ventilation.

Hope temps work out for you bro.

90 is too high, i keep my box at 72-74. if you run co2 they can handle 90. i would shoot for 80-82 if were you bro

Trying to get it down. right now, it's stable at just under 80 during the day with the lights on. At night, around 65 to 70. I turned off the MH I had going as a supplement to the 2 HPS lights.
Still looking for the right exhaust fan. I need something around 500 to 600 CFM. That'll give me a complete air exchange in the room every 2 1/2 min.

this is soooo misunderstood on this site - the temps quoted are for the thermometer under the light BUT shaded from direct light, like under a leaf or a piece of cardboard. check growfaq. the radiant heat from the light gives you a falsely high temp reading.
