How high to put hps?

Hey was thinking of getting these under the 600w aircooled hps today as I figure it would make sense to get them used to that before transplanting within the next week or so. How high would you guys recommend starting the light?

so close? I've heard of people starting 5 foot away lol do these look like they could handle 2ft?

Unbelievably yes, starting insanely high then moving it down daily to reduce stress etc, I am inexperienced which is why I ask as I don't know what these can handle. Thanks in advance

It's not productive for me to spend me time searching for information I could have seen anywhere. It makes no odds to me whether you believe me. I thought it sounded too far away which is why I posted on here. If I thought it sounded reasonable I would have done it
 
18 inches works great with a air cooled 600 12 inches works as in it will not burn the plants but its footprint becomes small.

For me I use a couple 600w cooltubes set at 18 inches from start to finish with good success growing 12 and 14 oz plants.
 
I started my last grow under 400W MH @ 24-30". Straight from seed. Once they grow 6-8" tall, start moving the light.

This grow started under 330w of COB LED @ 36".
