found this listed for sale on craigslist and well i am wanting t upgrade frm cfl bulbs to a single 250w hps light.. i just emailed her wanting to know when a good time to see them in person would be. here is the cl listing...

"For sale is a 1000 W (max) remote ballast by AgroStar for use with a hydroponic grow system for $30 cash. There are two available & I'll take $50 cash for both. They are brand new in the boxes I received them in; when I received them, I plugged them in & they didn't seem to work, or it may have been the light bulb that wasn't working. I'm not one to try and fix something I'm not familiar with, so they may very well be simple to fix. At the very least, they could be used for parts.

Can be used with 1000 W High Pressure Sodium (HPS) bulbs, 600 W HPS bulbs, 400 W HPS bulbs, 250 W HPS bulbs, 1000 W Metal Halide (MH) bulbs, 400 W MH bulbs, 250 W MH bulbs, or 1000 W HPS/MH switchable. Comes with a 10 foot long 120V/240V power cord.

Buyer would need to be able to pick it/them up in Georgetown. I will also be posting a 400 W hydroponic grow system with nutrients for $300 cash. Let me know if you're interested in any of these items! "

thanks man, i am going to buy 1 then go by lowes and pick up a 250w hps bulb and pray that it was just the bulb that didnt work. if it was the bulb then i buying both and running 2 250w hps bulbs

well i have tried to figure this out on my own but i was not able to find any info on it here. maybe i am just using the wrong key words. but the question is after emailing this lady a few times. does it matter the order in which you plug in the ballast and screw the bulb in ? i would assume you would screw the bulb in and then plug it in. she said when she plugged them in the bulb did not work and there was no sounds coming from the ballast. again assuming here, if the bulb goes bad or something is not hooked up right that the ballast would not turn on ?

does any one have any experience with agrostar remote ballast ? any info or help would be awsome cuz ya 30 bucks for a remote ballast. cant go wrong there.

I got some used ballast that didn't work at first so I came to find out they were wired for 220volts but I have 110 or what ever so I rewired them and they work fine
