Wow I didnt anticipate a war of words!

I just gave them there final feed today of half bio flora and full dose of boost. I'll just be using plain water from then on as my nutes smell of rotten fish and coffee and i dont fancy my smoke tasting like that!!!!!haha.

BTW Biocanna grow guide even advises that you dont use any nutes for the final phase accept abit of boost.

Im also gonna give them 24-72hrs darkness as I heard with some strains it can increase the amount of THC. It carnt harm it not too.

Thanks for all the help

Peace

How long has it been flowering? I'd guess it would have at least 3 weeks left. Still a lot of green in it and pistils mostly clear. At least feed for another week and see what it looks like at that point.

Yeah,

Thats what i intend to do. Do they still mature when just using plain water for the final 2 weeks? Im guessing its getting close by the number of orange pistils that keep appearing. If they do still mature even though watering with plain water they will diffinately be done in 3 weeks.

Oh its been flowering for 6 weeks now. The pineapple chunk is meant to take 6-8 weeks and the NL X Big Bud is meant to be ready in 7 weeks.

Im know the advertised flowering times are not entirely accurate and also it is my first time and im doing it organic so it probaby be more like 9-10 weeks flower in total.

I suffered most of my newbie mistakes during veg and i kinda overkilled it with the growth (2 months or more haha)

So in total my first grow would of taken 4 month from seed.

I've really enjoyed the experience and know i can do a much better job next time. I just have to wait another 3 weeks haha.

Peace

3 weeks at most i'd say. you seem to have a good handle on things for someone posting in newbie central, well done!

I'd agree with most people on here who aren't typing in oversized, coloured fonts. From when u first posted the pics, i'd say another 3 weeks would be good & yeah, i'd say feed for another 1 week & then just use plain water for final 2 weeks. And to answer u about does it still grow without u adding nutes - yes it does. The whole point of flushing with plain water is so there's no external nutes being given to the plant & so it is forced to use up any starches & sugars its stored within itself if it wants to carry on growing. Also it gives time for any residual nutes u feed it to be used up also - when people complain of bad tasting smoke, its usually a combination of added nutes still in the plants system & also its own starches & sugars. Traditionally this priniciple applied to using regular chemical ferts, but even with the new, truely organic ferts that say u can feed right up to harvest, i still prefer to give at least 10 days flush.

And overall, don't think there's some magical formula ur missing out on following - certainly there are good guidelines to growing, but the best thing is just to try something on 1 grow, try something on another, etc & compare results - once u got a few grows under ur belt, u'll soon have worked out what plants like & when they like it to happen, etc, etc. And i can already bet that u won't repeat some of the newbie errors next time & thats what its about; just refining ur technique each grow.

Best of luck dude & enjoy it - nothing will ever beat that 1st smoke of ur own grown!

Thanks,

That was some really good information. How can you tell when all the nutes have been used up? Just so that I can make sure my smoke is quality.

i will go a long with 2/3 weeks left but DO NOT FLUSH, feed right up to the end but half of what your giving them now......ok :hump: ;-)
Very good advice indeed......not sure what people are saying when they say they taste ferts in unflushed plants. Plants do not store ferts in the leaves or buds. What they store are sugars and carbs they created during photosynthesis.

yeah 3 weeks. i usually like to go 70 days flowering with my plants(from flowering NOT from 12/12).. plus the real way to know is the color of the trichomes.. i go for 75 amber 25 cloudy.. also yes no nutes the last 2 weeks.. although i have added blackstrap molasses every 2nd water til harvest..

alot of times the fan leaves will change color and stuff.. (knowing when nutes are out) plus you do it for 2 weeks.. the majority is gone.. .just make sure you flush your soil before flushing your plants

Well, I'm in the minority, because IMHO those little tarts have a good 4, if not 5, weeks left. They don't look anywhere near ready and 2 extra weeks could increase your yield handsomely.

Again, just my opinion.

Thanks,

How do you flush the soil? Do you just basically flood it with water?

I know what you mean. The reason i think they have 3 weeks left is that over the past 2 weeks they have really started to ripen and im getting some amber trichomes.

The strain is Pineapple Chunk and they say it really comes along in its final 3 weeks. Plant B might look sluggish but thats just because I fucked up loads with her as she was my first seed I ever planted along with another 2 but they died. The others were planted 2 weeks later to compensate for the others, hence thats why one strain is different (NL X Big Bud). The buds lower down on Plant B look really ripe and the most developed of all the plants.

basically run water through it.. make sure there is a steady stream of water coming out the bottom... once the water is clear coming out the bottom.. the soil is flushed. it usually takes 2-3 gallons depending on how big the pot is but make sure there is no more water streaming or dripping out before you put it back in its home. after that just give it plain water (no nutes)

but the real way to know if its done is the triachomes color.. that will tell you for sure

Don't understand why ur so set on no flush, when u can flush for the last week and get rid of any of that nasty nutrient smell and taste. It's not gonna make any difference in the quality of ur bud. Yeah, I agree w Uncle Buck!

Those starches and sugars folks want the plant to use up during flushing are needed more for proper drying/fermentation and curing of the buds. Many things still need to happen for truly killer bud weeks after chop day........
