How do you use a PPM meter for nutes?

Are you suppose to use PPM meter for nutes?
How is this done?

Stick the meter into the solution and believe what it says...

Seriously there is tons of information on this. Surf the Web. I would look into getting a meter that reads EC though. Look that up to. Don't be lazy.

Remember to stur up the mix before you measure.. There is a difference..

Get a blue labs ph/ppm meter from an authorized dealer if you can afford it and save your receipt. 5 year warranty and If anything goes wrong you get a brand new one with a new warranty.

I use a chinese knockoff the HANA PPM meter, cheap and precise. I dont see a reason why you should by the expensive ones unless you want to grow pro.

I agree with Yosemite Sam...a cheapo ppm meter is all you need for personal use. Check your water before adding any shit to it & get a reading. Then add your nutes...to check ppms stick your meter in the res & subtract the first reading that was plain water...that's your ppms & you can use this to determine how quickly your plants are up-taking nutes or not. For DWC I try to keep my ppms around 700-800 & haven't burned them...yet

Bluelab quality and the way they do customer support and warranty is definitely worth the money.

my hannah ppm pen has been working over a year and rarely needs calibration. blue lab may have a warantee... but its even better to not have to use it. my blue labs ph pen drifted off calibration and could no longer be calibrated. they had me mail it in and they calibrated it and sent it back like 3 weeks later. well my calibrstion still drifts all over the fuckin place and it had to be calibrated before each use. took about 3 weeks before the shit wouldn't calibrate again. now I get to enjoy another phone call.

I'm in no hurry... I got a hannah ph pen and it works fine. my hydro store owner told me the milwakees suck and he had to send a batch back to his supplier so I haven't tried them.

The ph probe on my bluelabs combo meter lasted over 2 years and was still accurate. The Ph button got a little crack on it from so much wear(they have since updated the buttons). I walked into my closest authorized dealer (which I didn't buy it from) and walked out with a brand new updated unit with a new ph probe. I have a milwaukee digital automatic ph adjuster and my bluelabs knows what the ph really is 3 minutes before the milwaukee. My bluelabs truncheon is a great backup and has been in service for over 3 years. I like being able to check my ph and ppm meters against each other and the blue labs warranty is awesome. Buy once , cry once.
