How do you prevent plant being burnt?

Lol, k.
They're not good for plants. If you have the option, stay away from hps.
It seemed funny you would recommend hardening off a baby under one, like something a troll would say to get someone to fail. Sure, they won't just flop over unless you're clueless, but they won't do better for it. Heat lamps, basically. 30%light efficiency at best.

Actually if hes starting beans, which i must have missed??? then yeah, no need for hps and its not like im recommending a different light source im just pointing out that there are ways to beef a plants foliage up the same way its done in nature outdoors but you seem eager to put words in my mouth lol.

the sun actually puts down more IR power on the earths surface then it does with its visable and uv spectrum, any excessive IR indoor is too close to the bulb/ambient temps too high which is just grower error, The surface temp of a leaf heated through IR is subjective to ambient temps and humidity. Thats why people who use HPS run ambient temps lower then those with lights that produce less IR.

What non-infrared light is hotter than hps?

I don't see that being true. That sounds like bro science. The sun puts out ir, we feel heat from it, and other vibrations. But outside, there are a ton of factors that determine how a plant reacts to the sun's rays. Hps are about as hot as grow lights get, and ir is a culprit. I'll look, but I think that is misinformation.
With noobs, you can assume they will put it too close.
Regardless of the location of the heat, or if is ambient, etc, it is caused by the infrared with hps. Cob led lights do not get as hot. Metal halide lights do not get as hot, but get hot. Equal wattage of differing lights do not produce equal heat. And hps is not a great spectrum for cannabis.
Not to mention added energy cost when running them because you have to cool the room, and use a can filter because hps causes resins to be used up for protection from the HEAT of hps, causing stinky, unhappy plants.

What non-infrared light is cooler than hps?
non-infrared? C'mon bro we all know almost every indoor light doesn't put out heat through IR like an hps, metal halide bulbs run hotter because of efficiency and still put out less heat when a hood is used, whats the point here??
- I DID NOT CLAIM HPS AS A SUPERIOR SPECTRUM (but can be added to thicken up the foliage if thats what one wants)
- I DID NOT CLAIM IR IS NEEDED (but it can come in handy if you live in certain cold places)

Same could be said about indoor, root temps, ambient temps, c02 ,ect all change up how much IR a plant can take untill it gets excessive

Regardless of the location of the heat, or if is ambient, etc, it is caused by the infrared with hps. Once again, IR can only heat a leaf up to a point that the environment allows, its nothing more then a heater in a cold room and has its limits. Cob led lights do not get as hot. Metal halide lights do not get as hot, but get hot. Equal wattage of differing lights do not produce equal heat. And hps is not a great spectrum for cannabis. Yup, i prefer mixed spectrum
Not to mention added energy cost when running them because you have to cool the room, and use a can filter because hps causes resins to be used up for protection from the HEAT of hps, causing stinky, unhappy plants.once again subjective to room environment and how well genes react to it, its not hard to keep plants happy under hps but yes, it can cost more if used in a hot area.

You sure claimed lights with less infrared create higher ambient temps, which is wrong.

You misunderstood lmao...
People PURPOSLY run lower ambient with hps vs lights that lack IR.
You think that makes it better? Lol, dude, come on. You're arguing that these lights don't harm plants when temp is lowered, when that is not true.
Well, that's no reason to act like they aren't harmful to plants. Even though the room is cooler, the hps is actually burning off resins. They need to be WAY further than "standard". I've been in gardens that use t5's, or even halides, and they hardly smell at all. Hps gardens stink.
People run them cooler because of the amount of heat they put out. That is in no way better than more efficient light, that doesn't require extra energy to cool it.

Holy shit dude, you really trying to look for someone to argue about hps huh lol, maybe you should find someone thats actually recommending it first instead of putting words in peoples mouths and arguing with yourself.

The only thing that interest me out of everything that you've said was "the infrared from a properly used HPS burns off oils ect from the plant regardless of ambiebt temp" and ill man up right now and ask for the evidence because this was something i did not know.

Funny though, i dont like stink rooms & that only happens with certain strains or stressed plants imo, if you've ever ran the same cuts under different spectrums then you will see that smell profile changes and perhaps its the stronger smelling limonene/myrcene that your picking up on under the red spectrum.

Lol, dude this is through text. I'm super baked, I am just having a decent discussion woth another grower. This is where we trade info and stories, gain knowledge/toss myth. Sorry I came off cold, text does that. Not arguing just to argue.
No smell should come off of them, you're right, unless stressed or touched. Hps = stress.
What you got growing now?

Ive been pheno hunting (green crack x gdp) x afghan kush, 10 in half gallon and 3 gallon pots, 3 in 5 gallon pots.

Looking for some flavor keepers, just having some fun and dusting a few tops with more gdp pollen to keep the ball rolling.
