How do you pay for your MMJ?

If those prices continue to rise in BC, the newly retired growers will jump back in the game.

Right....guess my point is, why are there expectations for LPs to sell it for $3?
I'm not sure. I think people are hoping that since there's a legal outlet now prices should have dropped to sane levels for a plant that can be grown easier then any fruit bearing vegetable plant. There's a lot of people who need the price of illegal weed to be high. From police who get funding, to the LP"s so they can sell high to the gov so they don't have to admit that 40K licensed growers cause the weed price to plummet to historic lows since it's been made illegal. This would mean proper legalization would make it worth nothing and then no one can money money off it.

No, not the ones who had licenses, 90% of them just invested money since there was no risk. If the PL's date gets pushed back to say Sept 30 like the PPL then you'll see some jump back in BUT most will know that the prices will plummet once again and they wont make enough to be bothered.

Sure it's nice to want $3g weed but, if there is nothing in it for the growers they won't bother and certainly won't try as hard to produce the best. There has to be some incentive. Growing for yourself and growing to market some is two different things. Many bigger grows employ folks who need to be paid. Nutes ..hydro...lights....equipment...all costly. I'd say $5 is fair at a CC imo...if it nice stuff that's good value for doing nothing but buy it.

I don't think an .80/g production cost is accurate.
it is if you run only two lights and are 100 percent organic....and
there is no reason to charge for your time
plus I run the 1000 watters to veg too....when I could just use T5's

also made my own seed from store bought strains....which also helps keep the costs down
water from natural source so no water bill.....
security monitoring...video done self...because work from home....
as I see it as I have almost 5 crops under my belt at this time....I figure on my costs coming down from this point...with the exception of new bulbs....because as my skills have improved....thanks to the people here....my yields have also improved...
and as yields improve costs go down.....
I may even be able to afford some co2 in future
also a new grow building/greenhouse....costed me nothing and all the material was compliments of the people I consult for...who have been supporting my choice to medicate.....this way

LP cost after set up per gram.
Cost per gram is around .06 cents

You people really need to open your eyes in what things actually cost.
They can profit at less that 5 cents a gram!!!

:)

Still pretty high in some Toronto clubs I just got told. I know some that go down to $5g up to $7 at LCS

That's ($5) a least a somewhat reasonable price range, it's the $10/g from large commercial grows that gets me, and the program is targeted to support sick people? If Harper and cronies kept their greedy hands out of the pot it could certainly be brought down to a more reasonable level.

.05 cents a gram for tobacco. They sell it to you at around .40 cents a gram
You think its different?
Tobacco costs more to grow. Peope are in the frigin dark ages if they think it costs more than that to grow Meds in large scale.

Why the fuck do you think "they"(LP's, the government) want to do it so badly?
Give your heads a shake.
.Wake up!

Anything over 1 dollar a gram is ludicous.

Sorry to take all the profit/wind out of your sales LP's  ( Now there's a play on words.)
but not everyone was born yesterday and they are well versed on what things actually cost.

cheers

PS...

Ever hear of "stupid money" well.. everyone gets to witness this one as it goes down in the histroy books. ;)
It's Going to make Pharma, alchohol and cigarette companies seem like a joke by comparrison. although....where do you think the money will come to fund it after all? Same old same old.

If it costs .06$ how is it profitable under .05$ /g?

Yes the prices are too high ..I'm an MMPR patient and I understand, trust me.

But I would still be happy with a three to five dollar range.

That would be easily affordable per month for me and the producer still gets a cut

You are only factoring the cost of running the actual room. You're not thinking about taxes, building maintenance, customer service, hr, accounts payable, growers, trimmers, shippers, every day business cost... these are super large scale operations..

Like I said..they do over charge..I agree. But the big picture still needs to be considered. Its not fair, it pains me to see sick people struggle and suffer. I hope lps become an option, not the only option.

Perhaps you might change your opinion once you've done a detailed cost analysis.
Total cost to produce is $1-$2/g in the MMPR.
Can't nail the exact cost because of variables...location, strain, etc...but I think every LP is in that range.

Just a question then leaf if it cost them 1$ to 3$ produce then why the 8$ to 10$ cost that's huge inflation right there plus after the first...say 2 grows there cost would drastically go down but there prices won't.

I wouldn't want to have to figure it out in the mmpr.
much too much.....of everything that's under scrutiny in the mmpr.....
and to it all charge hst on top.....that's the government's cat out of the bag.....
