How Do You Harvest/Cure Your Crop?

I'm new to growing, and I am about to harvest my first two plants on Friday. I've heard of all kinds of tricks to do right before you cut your girlies from the soil they know so well. There are things like 24 hrs of darkness, drilling a hole at the bottom of the main stalk 24 hrs before chop, and ripping the plant out by the roots, just to name a few.

So I was wondering what all you veterans do out there? Im sure there are some good tricks out there..So why don't we all share our stories..hell post some pics too!

Here is a pic of one of the plants I am chopping on Friday. I got them from a friend and they were stressed out and dieing..I did my best to bring life back to them, and salvage some buds...

Yo bro make sure you don't forget to cure your buds. There's a technical thread on the topic covered by roxistar but all I'm going to say is, "Cure your fecking buds and the shit will knock you on your ass." It fecking works. Only drawback is another two weeks of patience. Journal shows my girl during the cure also.

I havent givent them any nutes in about a week and a half. I stopped watering them 1 day ago..I dont expect to get much. A 1/4 oz would make me happy.

They will definitely be cured properly..i have jars and cool dark place to hang em. I hope the smoke is delicious. I will be my first harvest. I got these plants when they were already flowering, but they were stressed and dying. Then I almost killed them with nutes.

someone just posted something on helping dry them with rice
in a jar. Like rice in a nylon stocking, then buds on top. The rice is sposed
to absorb the moisture, then you go to curing.
I would hang them upside down for 2-3 days to help dry them.(in dark)
Then cure them for two weeks. Some suggest the brown paper bag method first. And burping them about 2-3 times a day. (opening the bag and rotating the buds so they
cure and dry evenly and properly) and then putting them in jars to cure.
Not so sure about the jar method, but just look it up on here. Its very helpful.

Well Im going to start harvesting my plant tomorrow. Before I put it in the dark I am going to drill a small at the base of the main stem. Then it will sit in 24 hours of darkness. Hopefully this makes it produce some last minute resin.
