How do Portable A/C units work?

I was wondering how portable a/c units work. Do they suck air out of the room? If I have it set up in my grow room, will it be pulling odor filled air out its exhaust hose and out the window


The unit has 2 separate intake vents. 1 on the right side, and one on the back. I am thinking one sucks air through, condenses and cools it, and then recirculates it into the room and the 2nd vent sucks air in, pulls the heat and is forced out the exhaust. Anyone have any experience with this?


I am using a Delonghi 12k btu penguin (DELONGHI PAC A120EL)
