So every year my outdoor plants always start flowering sometime during july, then re-veg for a week or 2 then start flowering again! I hate it, I throw flood lights on them at night with little to no sucess, any ideas or reasoning why they do this? I am in central cali, great summer full sun I dont get it!!!

Well if you want to keep it in veg I'd say throw it inside 24/0. That's what I do for winter when I don't want my plant to bud and to stay in veg.

I put them out the last week of June, that is the longest week of the year. They get 7 to 8 hours of light a day. I am just going to throw the flood light on them at night to break up the dark period I guess.

bingo, so got this dramatic 9 hr decrease in light, triggers ur plant to flower, then the hrs outside allow it to veg for a short while, but when the daylight hrs are going down again after the solstice, it will soon trigger flowering, so basically the problem is u not adjusting ur indoor hrs, to closely coincide with outdoor hrs

what i did this year with good success is start them indoors on 15/9 and leave it that way until they go outside.

I go from 24/0 to outside and never have an issue with early flowering. In fact, several in my group do the same with no ill effects. Kush, F.I., Mazar and a few local crosses. Only thing flowering yet is a Skunk we've been crossing with an Auto called "whiskey". Clones easy yet finishes mid August. Got 3 footers I put out early June and several under a foot I put out July 1st.... started flowering within two days of each other.

I had my plants vegging under 18/6 not 24/0, but I still see your point. Even from 18-15 was prob enough. I shall try 15 hour veg next year.

do you guys think I should have the flood light on as it gets dark to keep them lit up for an extra hour or 2 at sundown? Or do you think I should wait till about 10-11 at night and then blast them with the flood light to break up their dark period???
