my plants always go verticle to the extreme...never bush out.

how do i get this? and by this...i mean the extra growth at the nodes...

By keeping the lights as close to your plants as possible without burning them. Thats what works for me.

You are letting them stretch, your light intensity is not great enough. Get your lights closer, or get a HID light. Like a MH or HPS

its either the lights as mentioned or just plain bad genetics. i had one plant that didnt grow those side shoots until wayy into flowering and other plants getting the same light grew them out just fine.

that'f unny because they're starting to grow the shoots now...almost 3 weeks into flowering...
