How did "YOU" build your hydroponics system??

hmm this is something good to know, tryed to plus rep u but apparently i need to spread the love a little first. I really want to try aeroponics because it is apparently so fast, it just seems like it needs alot more attention. im kinda thinkin dwc might be the best for me. I know i'm worrying to much, i just dont want to invest time in money in something that i already know is going to be a fail because i cant be around all the time if something was to happen.

Everyone here understands your feelings. As you take this journey you'll find that your plants don't need you all that much and these systems run fine with little maintenance. Buy decent equipment, make sure you have no leaks and clean your stuff between runs and you'll be fine. If you find yourself getting stressed out, and you will remember this:

hmm, i thinjk i'm going to end up goin with a 5 gal bucket dwc. except i want to have more plants. you think 5 gal bucket is better or big rubbermaid bin with a couple plants in it??

I've spent weeks debating this question with myself. I think I'm going buckets. Stronger, more maneuverable, can alter nutes by strain, etc. Can always add more later, or convert it into a RDWC.

aren't they all connected in the end??? so the nutes flow thru them all?

They can be. That would be like a RDWC. Or you can have single DWC buckets.

ohhh, whats the R stand for? Even if i do single buckets im pretty sure im gonna connect them all. this way i can use less pumps right??? thus saving me more money.

do different strains need different nutes???

if u do DWC, u dont need a water pump. unless u want it to take out the water for water changing. DWC is basically a bucket of nutrient water with an air pump in it for oxygen. u can get a large air pump with a bunch of splitters so each bucket has its own line, and u wont have to buy multiple pumps.

with RDWC, u will need a water pump to move the water around between the buckets. a disadvantage of this is that all the plants share the same nutrient PPMs, and possibly bacteria/fungus infections. the advantage is its easier maintenance because u dont have to mix nutrients more than once. u may have problems with leaks though.

theres TONS of variety and a million ways u could do it. the best way is to find out what others did. read a lot of grow journals. plan a lot, otherwise u will be changing the plan half way through the build. most ppl end up trying a different setup their second time anyways

yes, different quantities. even two seeds from the same batch may be different

If you don't have a lot of lighting then I suggest building a 5 gallon dwc bucket, or two. If you have a big light and room then go rdwc.

ive been on this site for almost 2 years now. everyday i come on and study. i still learn new things every single day. im constantly trying to figure out better ways to do things

here is a dwc 5 gal bubble bucket cots me 20 bucks to build, if your only planning on doing 4 this is not a hard way of doing it, rdwc is great if your planning on more plants because there is only one res to worry about rather than multiple buckets to fill and drain weekly or bi weekly.

those are nice, i wasnt quite sure how many im thinking of doing. good chance i'm gonna do a perpetual grow of 8 so 16 altogether.

me too. i find the best way is to learn from other ppls mistakes and to ask questions. this forum is like having a room full of tutors at your disposal
