How close?

Just curious what you guys think I'd personally say my plants have 30 to 40% darkened and are atleast another week but this is my first grow so would like your opinion. Trichomes have started to cloud slightly under microscope.

Also I just sore a 48 hour darkness period before cutting is this required and what is the purpose?

I think waiting until all of the hairs turn color and kink up makes for good smoke. I'd call it 2 weeks at least, but I can't see very clearly with the hps orange goin on.
What strain?

Would it be better to go down with flash on after lights out tonight and take some? I read harvesting after 70% turn?

No idea on strains these have all been from various seeds I've taken from ounces over the year still got more seeds so have cloned these girls got more seeds on the go and I'm just going to filter through until I've found my top 4 and just keep cloning those.

I usually go right before lights on for pics.
Yeah, I mean you can probably find a couple dozen different ways to tell when stuff's done. Loupes are cool but I prefer looking for the kinked over orange hairs and a light colored honey hue to the frost, that's when I chop. Here's a couple pics of some Jack Herer so you can see what I mean.
