How close to harvest?

Anyone else have any thoughts on flushing? I’m using John Innes compost with 20/25% perlite. Have been feeding with Coco A+B (long story, I ordered the wrong medium and couldn’t send it back). I’ve heard a few things for and against. I guess the main thing I want is yield but obviously having a nice smoke is important too.

There’s so much out there on the for and against of flushing eh, kinda hard for a rookie to know what to do. Leaning towards not I guess.

It's been pretty much put to bed that flushing to make a "better smoke" has no merit. One of the issues with all the debates is that "flushing" has multiple definitions in the world of cannabis growers. When most people talk about "flushing at the end of harvest" they mean that they just stop feeding nutrients and just water the plants for the last couple of weeks. There's also the act of "flushing" when soil gets salt buildup from over-feeding, or to help correct pH issues that were caused by watering or feeding with solutions that were way off on pH. Those last two "flushing" methods are more widely accepted, because you can get your plants back on track by flushing to correct nutrient lockout and pH issues, and those who stop feeding 2 weeks from harvest do it more to save money on nutrients than for any other reason.

Some good tips on this thread! And those buds look nice and fat.
Looking at those trichs - I would go a couple more weeks. Some were still clear from my eye.

Happy harvesting!

Ya I think I’ll feed right to the end. Quantity is something I am definitely conscious of. As I said previously, the quality and price where I live is garbage so really looking for as much as I can from each girl.

Damn bro I am in same boat as you. First time grower, I am also growing northern light auto and nearing the end. I got GH florakleen and will be doing flush in 1-2 weeks. I am thinking doing flush with florakleen for about week then give it some dark time.

I’m gonna chop her down tomorrow. Trichomes are cloudy enough for me, not looking for a couch lock. Tomorrow is the last day of week 14. I have another few plants that are weeks behind and I will allow one of them to go all amber but now I’m in a position where I’m outta bud and can’t justify buying anymore brick weed.

Mostly cloudy so a week or 2 away yet.

I'd leave them 2 weeks with one more feed then just water for 10 days and check again

Your choice and smashing looking plants by the way.

Some nice smoke there, enjoy.

I have a few more a few weeks behind so I’m ok with harvesting this one ‘early’. I don’t see the buds getting any more dense at this point, a few of the colas need support to stay up, they are heavy.

Harvested on April 25th. 425g on stem wet. It has been drying, hanging upside down on TV cardboard boxes since. I reckon a 1/3 of it will be dry tomorrow with the rest a few days later. Will post final weight then.

I’m curious to c what u get dry, I’m trying to figure out what I’m looking at in my 5x5 for weight between the 9 of em.. what u think? I was aiming for 20+oz but I’d be happy with a pound even 15oz ..day 28/29 flower out of 65/70 in those pics

1000 watt HPS with an average yielding strain will do about 1 pound when doing a good job

A 1000 watt HPS with highest yielding strain will get 2 pounds if your doing everything right.

I’ve heard of 2.5 pounds on 1000 watt but that’s wasn’t consistently 2.5 more of a freak of nature here and there

Please note that even one pound per 1000 watt isn’t as easy as you think to do. Any screw up or stress/ nutrient lock out can ruin that fast

I’ve never ran CO2 so I couldn’t give good reports on that

Growing a small yield of weed is easy for anyone.

Getting fantastic yields with amazing quality consistently is where the true growers are separated from the hobby/learning growers
