How close can you put aircooled reflectors to your plants

It depends on the variables of the ambient temps as well as ventilation and air exchange , High output bulbs are what I favor and with my 600s I average 8"-12"in distance or else its light bleach time

As far as temps go, I can get my 400w cooltube so close that the light spread is horrible. So like maybe 6 inches, but I wouldn't run it that close because it would all be focused on a small area.

A good rule of thumb. Is to follow the 1foot rule. Like was said, the light spread to close is horrible. I keep my cool tubes about 2 feet from my plants. I get good light spread at that distance. Experiment with it. Find a height that works for you and your plants.

Something else to consider is when you switch on those air cooled lights, all the bends in your duct work from light to light will restrict airflow by 20% for each bend.

I see you are currently running what looks like a light wave t5 at present

Have you switched on your hid lighting and tested temps yet?

IMO remove the bends and straighten the duct work from light to light to try and get a straight shot through each of your reflectors.

I used to use a 600w with blockbuster hood and my plants could touch the glass, however I experienced light bleaching from it.

After that I kept it at least 6" away.
