i feel ya stoney... pretty much read the entire thread... you sound a lot like me..

my house has quickly become a "dog shelter" as my friends put it... i started out with 2 dogs of my own, adopted a 3rd (puppy) who was headed off to the slaughter house (pound), had a 4th basically given to me by a friend who doesnt even have a place to live (she had been passing her dog around since she got it because her parents wouldnt let her keep it at home... shes 21...), just had my first litter of puppies, and was asked if i wanted to take in another 9 month old pup who was just bought by a college bound student knowing he couldnt take it with him... i fencing in my yard, fixing up my garage, and doing what i can to make as much room as i can...

i dont think im crazy or obsessed with pets.. i have the space and love the free security so why not?? at least thats how i look at it.. it can be expensive feeding them, and tricky getting things worked out for them.. and hopefully there arent many more that come along for me... but at least i know my grow is safe and the dogs arent getting put to sleep... oh and if anyone is curious the big black male (the one on the couch) is the dad of the litter... rotweiler/pitbull mixes.. cutest fucking things ever...

so pics of the "crew"... 14 strong, and growing...... bongsmilie

Dude, like I said, I'll feed anything, cat, human, whatever.I know most people think that humans are more important than animals, I personally find that to be a little arrogant; we're animals, too, and no better than any other thing that lives on this earth.I'm not caught up on one cat;it's any animal that is dumped and comes to me for help. Some people go work for charities, some do fund raising,I take care of strays and try to find them homes.I do this because it makes me feel good to help them and show them not all humans are shit heads who will beat them or dump them or ignore them. When people are hurt or abandoned, it tends to get a lot more attention than when an animal is.There are plenty of programs helping underprivileged people. And we don't euthanize orphans when we can't find them homes. But if an animal is unwanted, people feel like they have the right to decide whether that animal lives or dies, simply because they don't want to deal with it.Well, that's shitty.I'm just posting this to relieve a little frustration. If you don't agree, fine.I'm not "obsessed" or "caught up" because I have compassion for something. I'm not preaching to people to be vegans or not to kill animals for food;like I said, we are nothing more than animals, too.I'm just saying that it's cruel to treat another living thing like it's disposable just because it can't read or write or drive a BMW.
They've been killing things and eating it for millions upon millions of years, they evolve and get passed the parasites or they die, just like we die to cancer and all types of diseases. Shit happens, people are dying everyday, why are you worried so much about a cat? I love animals and humans, just not sure why you're so caught up on one cat.
I agree with you.If I had more money and space, I'd have more animals. However, I'm not stupid and I know it's not right to overcrowd my own animals and make them unhappy by "collecting" more pets than I can handle.I have no idea why people think this is an obsession. If it were, I'd have no control over it and would have way more animals than I could reasonably shelter or afford.

My wife and I have rescued/fed numerous strays. Unfortunately I have a member in my family who gets animals and can't housebreak them or something and end up giving the animals away. It really pisses me off. If you decide to adopt/purchase a pet it needs to be for life! For good or bad it needs to be for life! Domesticated animals depend on humans for everything and are so loyal and loving no matter what we do. I just don't understand this sort of cruelty at all.

Me either. At the very least, if your pet is not a good fit, or won't be housebroken, it's your responsibility to find them a good home. But they're not BIC lighters, you shouldn't just get a new one and get rid of the old one every time things aren't going your way.One of my brothers and his girlfriend are exactly that way, they change pets more than they change socks.

Yesterday, I was trying to firgure out why the neighbor kids were in my yard, come to find out, they were trying to get someone's dog out from under my porch. They were trying to force it out by whacking it with a broom handle. I yelled at them, and scared them off and to my surprise, the dog let me crawl under the porch and pick it up. So I sat there petting her for a few minutes and the kids say they want to take her home. Mind you I had just watched them grab the dog by the collar, and drag it by the collar, front legs in the air, hind legs barely touching ground. The poor thing was whimpering the whole time. I felt horrible.

I ended up pinking her up to take her to her house and the owner's daughter was just getting off the schoolbus. I told her her dog was under my porch, and handed her over. As soon as that girl got him in her hands she fucking SMACKED the living shit out of him 4 or 5 times. I didn't want to be seen struggling with a 13 year old girl or I would of took him from her, so instead I asked her WTF her problem was and told her that if she can't offer him a loving home I would take her. She sneered at me with that fuckin middle school content and told me to mind my own buisiness.

I feel horrible for that dog. :(

My wife just took in a cat. She obviously belonged to someone based on her haircut. It was like she went into heat and they couldn't take it so they just let her loose.
She's put on a pound or so since being with us and looks so much better.

That really sucks Louis, fucking kids. I report her for animal abuse, stupid little bitch. Or pay a girl her age to beat her ass. Ok, that might not be the best idea, but it'd make me feel better.

Thats not bad there is that many hungry humans, honestly we need a huge population decrease so to think that this many people could die soon is a relief off my chest...

On another note ya its sad to think that people can treat there animals like this, at my old house there was 6-7 stray cats that lived in my back yard and around my street, none of them were aggressive including two siamese cats, i fed them the entire time we lived there and now we moved so i hope they are gettin food one way or another. Maybe a bum will die and they can eat him?

Yep green cross fuck humans, we are a dieses to this planet, we are the only thing on our planet that does not create an equilibrium.

Aw, that's sad. I hate people like that, and you can't do anything because she's a minor. Some people just act like animals have no emotions. Maybe you could talk to the girl's parents about her mouth, at least...good luck, though, seems like parents who teach their kids how to behave are few and far between anymore..

As much as I would love to go try to explain to her parents they are the same way and think the little fuckin tart can do no wrong. They'd probably call the police and say I'm trying to deface her name.

The kids down here are so bad, I've literally wished I could be a minor for 24 hours and poke them all in the nose.:D

cats and dogs have a very awkward and shitty existence among us humans.
they're our best friends and then they're also looked at as something like a parasite

green cross is just a pussy on the internet dont mind him . stoney your doing what anyone with a heart would do . your actually breathing and living how we should. not wasting air like green cross over there. .. your huge love is makin a difference where u are. you affect your friends thats what matter. they know whats up :) as do we.

and louis. you could call animal abuse clinics. tell them that family witnesses that shit. and lets their daughter do whatever. (based on family pride and exactly u said they think shes a PRINCESS.) YOU COULD volunterrr to take care of the dog say they were to seize it from them. people like that hate others to know.. have a communityy newspaper? flame it up there. get it out. theyll change . maybe even smack the DAUGHTER

on an island i see this type of sadness all the time. its the best feeling making someone eat catfood off the ground just like there abandoned pet ( something they never expect when they come to throw away an animal..) just some thought for you guys> there is vigilance ;)

IDK what it is with local animals all of a sudden but a pure black cat jumped in through my window while I was playing hackysack. It took it a few hours but she finally found out I wasn't a threat, but finally she let me pet her. I ended up getting her some cat food and left the window open all night. She never eft. Today I'm going to put up flyers because this cat HAS to belong to someone. It's too friendly to be a stray.

lol, attracting new pets huh?

I dunno about too friendly to be a stray though. My kittens that I got from other people, who were raised by people all their lives -- they're spoiled little brats. The female stray that started off living on my porch and is now living in my house -- she's the sweetest, most affectionate of them all. She starts purring as soon as you touch her.
