dude best way and most legit way is to listen to the first post
The whole concept to growing is to grow as many branches on the plant as possible. When ya cut the top off your plant it stops growing them.
Ya big deal ya get 2 branches out the top. If ya dnt top ya get several more 7,8,14 of them.

Once ya top a plant you dnt grow any more branches. "OK"

dude just check out my journal. Its in my sig. Read it from beginning to end. I dont really explain how i did it, but you can see really easily that i just flat out tied the everloving shit outta my plants. It keeps them nice n low n i just kept the light as close to the plant as it would let me. Those two factors, plus i topped each plant twice, is what kept my plants nice n low.

N whoever said that topping takes from the potency of your buds didnt know what they were talkin about. Its not like its a 2nd generation plant, where i took it, flowered it, reverted it back to veg, n flowered it again - thats the only way your gonna SERIOUSLY effect potency. Topping just makes the plant focus growth on the rest of the plant, since youve cut off the main branch. Now instead of having just one giant bud, youll have two, or if you top twice, youll have four. It wont be AS big as the main cola woulda been, but they will be two or three times bigger than they woulda bin had you left the main stem alone. Its worth it to top the plant if you need the space. Top and LST and youll be straight man. trust me. read the journal.

although what dirty boy just said about the plant stopping growth in height is true though. What it will do is cause all the little branchlings on all of the branches to shoot out and turn into branches themselves, and youll end up with a bush. There wont be as many NODES, but there will be dozens
of offshoot branches, coming from each of the main branches.

I cut off all the little branches that shoot up on the main branches. Then all the energy of the plant is focussed on the buds. See photo above. I would rather have a shit load of big branches then a shit load of little ones.

is that bushmaster stuff organic??
It's a kelp derivative . . . stops vertical growth, which allows growers with multiple plants to shape the entire plot for maximum light penetration and harvest. Also eliminates/minimizes stretch, which can cut 1-2 weeks off flowering time.

that has nothing to do with anything so i don't no why he would bother
I believe this thread started in search of a way to stop upward growth and promote branching, which this product was created for. I've known how to pinch and/or train plants for 30+ years and would have no problem doing this by hand, myself. I suspect some folks wouldn't be so confident, and thus, was trying to share some advanced info with those members.
