How can I QUIET my Carbon Scrubber to be more stealthy????

And 4" can fans are a waste. Mostly motor with little impeller, 6" is way more efficient.
what he said^^
well after thinking about it a bit longer I don't quite agree with this last bit snaps.

I mean the four inch fans on my scrubbers move a ton of air through the 8x36x 2" filters and once I insulated the fan housing and added a short piece of six inch insulated flex to the ehaust they are almost silent. Even running them wide open. Plus they only draw like 50 watts on full power and you don't need a controller.
and these are cheapo50$ fans from ebay.

i really think they do a swell job for a recirculating scrubber snaps.

however for an exhaust fan/filter I would certainly want a larger fan though...so you can turn it up if needed like you said.

When you do the cfm/watt math the efficiency on the 4" will be inferior. They work, don't get me wrong, just not as efficiently.

I use a pair of these Max Fan 6" inside diy carbon filters. They have 3 speeds settings. approx 60/70/80W and 200/260/334 CFM. The motor has 2 separate windings so the speed control is not harmful to the motor just like a ceiling fan.
