I use the square covers for my rockwool....about 8$ for 40 of them. It blocks the light so mold cant grow on the rockwool its self. as for your res, im not sure about that. I am of the understanding that the black reservoirs dont allow growth inside them. I also like to use cocomat on my tables. get the 1" thick stuff, its comes in a 4'x4' piece, they run about $50 a piece. If you are transplanting your ladies from a veg area to a flower area wait until they are in the flower area so that the roots cant work there way into the cocomat while thay are vegging. If powdery mildew becomes and issue on your plants, I suggest GreenCure. I used to have powdery mildew, and after a few cycles its all gone.

Algae needs light to grow.

Don't give it any light and it won't grow.

A lightproof reservoir will stop this happening.

(wondered why all the tubing is generally black?)

All good answers. My cure is to cover the table in panda film - white side up - then cut an X large enough for the rockwool cube to fit in. I then place the cube and tape the slit points back together leaving a circular hole about 3in in diameter. this not only stops the algae but reflects some light to the bottom of the plants.

I just use the square panda covers. I like to move my plants around to get better light. Use the darkest Res. you can find or wrap yours with a roll of silver duct tape.
