how can i maximize my harvest?

Like the title asks, how can I maximize my harvest? You can see how i'm doing so far on my "7 light cfl grow" thread. But I'm trying to figure my next crop. Obviously Hydro would fit a lot more in my box, but I tryed that before and had many problems. I just don't have enough equipment for that or maybe just lack of experience. I'm good with soil so I don't mind sticking with it. Thinking of turning the entire bottom into one giant pot of soil. Lol, or something. Thank you for any suggestions.

Eliminate as many variables as possible to limit problems.

Example, Soil PH. Buy a pre-mix which has limestone in it or mix it in yourself to ensure the PH stays neutral. Also use RO Water vs Bottle or Tap since the PPM to both is to high.

I browsed your thread/7 light grow and some of the lights/bulbs seemed some what far away. Try to get all the bulbs within 2'' of the plant and even use some type of reflector to focus/direct the light, not to mention some Mylar would help reflect the light around in the box as well.

In the end, it all comes down to trial and error based on each individuals setup but lots of people seem to over water and hang their lights a bit to high but either way... best of luck and have fun ;)

Thanks for the input, but i'm trying to find the best way to fit the most I can in such a small space. I looked into the hempy bucket but I don't think that would apply for me, height would be a major factor. The lights I try to keep close but when a light is so close to a bud, that buds immediate space would be in temps around 90. The rest of the plant might be cool, but wouldn't that slow down the growth of the bud compared to keeping the light say 4" or 5" away? Thanks!

Thanks Boneman! I really enjoyed your grow, read the whole thing and wondered if I could do the same, but with a 16qt small plastic containers. I was thinking also about going all rockwool. I'm stoned guys. You all have no idea how long its taking me to type this. And no, I didn't harvest early. Some other shit. i gotta go.......peace ppl

Trial and error. Realistically you need to burn some leaves etc in order to really find out how close you can actually get. Myself, I've had 42 watt cfls within 1"-2'' of leaves/buds without any heat issues.

Use the "TRAIL AND ERROR" technique for your nutes and closeness of lighting...And from there you should be good!

Yes, I try a lot of things and learn something, good or bad, on everything. What I'm trying to ask is, do you think it would be better to go with 20 small clones or 1 big plant with the branches bent? I wanna figure out how much I can fit into this thing. Any ideas on that, let me know. Thanks

Hey man- if you want to maximize a CFL harvest, the easiest way is to increase bud density/area (budding sites)- by adding light from ALL directions and keeping as close a proximity as is possible.

i just finished my first harvest- i built a CFL box around my plant when i put it into flowering, using lights on all sides/roof AND hang light(s) in between the colas in order to add density to inner buds. the plant was around 3ft and yield 95g dried. i use all organics- but that's just me. i also swapped maple syrup for molasses during flushing/flowering and the bud has an amazing lemony/maple/pine aroma and sweet taste.

so... use light on each side plus one from the inside if possible. its all about coverage.

-best of luck

Wow kindest, holy shit! 95g?! Nice job, so you think I should go with one plant again instead of more? Maybe put more lights in there in different spots? I definatly gotta get some fans before I put more lights in.

thx man.
well, i only had one plant so i had the make the best of it. my current (2nd) crop is 6 plants (all seeds, 1 Cindy 99, 1 TWreck, 1 x, and kush bagseeds that are all about to be flowered. my old box was 2x2x4... good for a tree but not really for a crop, so my new one is 2x3.5x3.5. and yes i would definitely move/aim the lights more. unlike HID's, CFL's power isnt necessarily in birghtness- but in coverage... if that makes sense. get the bulbs acap, like 1-3 or 4 in tops. put them everywhere. a simple wooden box can be built for 20$ from stuff at HD and the DIY possibilties are endless...

so are those plants hermaphrodites?
cuz if thats the case, unfortunately any seeds that come from them will also be hermaphrodites.

the bud is still good though,
you can even greatly reduce the amount of seeds by going through every branch and pulling the male pollen sacks off before they open and release pollen
if you get em all you may have just performed a marijuana sex change

prettymuch the same thing everyone else said for increasing yield though
id stick some lights around the lower budsites of the plant , CFLs dont penetrate foliage very well so youll probly wanna pull off largers leaves that turn yellow during flowerin when the plants nitrogen is being used up

Thanks Rachel, it's funny you mention that because I've been doing that when I could. I picked 4 sacks of it, but u'm sure one sprayed me before I got to it. On one of my buds I see like 3 seeds growing. Is that true about herm seeds? I never knew that. Thanks peace
