How big can i go?

ok guys I have recently put together my first led flower light (currently using a 400w hps which is a killer in summer with 40+ degree c days)

my rig consists of 9 x 1ft bridgelux gen 2 eb strips (3500k and 4000k mix i think) wired in series being driven by a meanwell hlg-120h-c700b. i plan to drive it between 500-700ma.

how much space can i expect this to flower with this setup?
is it capable of replacing my little hps?


my current grow space is about 5-6 sq ft and ive been quite happy over winter with my hps in this space.

Take your total wattage and divide by the suggested 30w/sqft and you will find how big your grow space could be

1ft eb2s have a max current of 700mA, right? Btw they shouldn't have any problem since bridgelux usually downsize their max

150W won't replace 400W of hps, but is a more appropriate size for 5-6 sq ft.

If you are seriously concerned about summer heat, you could try running autoflowers during summer. You'd only need 75-100W for that space.

Hi! 400w HPS over 6ft2 is a bit too much...how many grams did you get on average with HPS???(dry weight) With a more efficient light like COB or qb or strips at low current you should be able to get over 1gpw so 6ft2 x 30w = 180w so you will be able to harvest depend on your skills between 180 and 270 grams and over...

6 square feet will need about 200 watts, using the B-lux Gen 2 strips.

Super new to the auto flower plants.
Do they require less W then photo plants?

ive been averging 0.5+ grams per watt ish with the hps (it was what i had sitting at the time) and planned on building 2 of these to replace it anyway (plus give me a little room to grow in the future).

actull based what i made of his tutorial, i just had a cc driver so used series wiring instead of parrallel. if i build another any advantage of swtching?

im well aware and just built the first as a test bed (still cold enough here i need the hps). i plan on makeig 2 so 300w of strips.

this has been hella helpful and pretty much confirmed what i was thinking. was thinking 2 of these total for my space and running them at 500ma.

how close will 2 at 100% be to replacing the hps?

They can use lower wattage because you leave the lights on for 20-24 hours, so the amount of photons striking the canopy on a given day ends up being the same, just spread out over a longer period of time, if that makes sense. It's called the DLI or Daily Light Integral, and what the plant really cares about. We are just stuck with 12/12 during flower on photoperiod plants.
