How 2 fix Zinc def???

Hey guys. I'm new to organics and I have a bit of a zinc def. I am currently 3 weeks veg in coco and using GO box nutes per instructions without the BioMarine. I'm using dechlorinated tap water ( I let it sit for at least 48 hours before use) and I'm watering with feed when it starts to get dry. I wasn't sure how to feed with coco and after reading around on here, it seems a lot feed with every water. Could I be over doing it or should I supplement some zinc, and if so, with what? Thanks.

In the future water plain to wet the soil 1-2 hour prior to your feed watering it will be less stress on the plants. when there thirsty they take in a lot and it can stress them to take up so much at once that the nutrient balance could be not what the plant needs at that exact moment. also check iron the two deficiencies go together at times could you manage a picture though so we can have a better look to make sure that is what you're dealing with? zinc is an uncommon one and supplementing with zinc if it is not needed could be toxic to the plants considering it is a micro nutrient and not needed in large amounts

I agree with using plain water about an hour before fertigating. And what makes you think it is a Zn deficiency? What are the symptoms and where do they occur?


Blackstrap molasses contains Zinc (and Iron as well, AFAIR). Earthjuice Microblast as a good micro-nutrient formula that I use occasionally and for foliar, it also contains zinc and other nutrients.

I would just do a simple soil drench with 1/2 or 1 tbs of powdered Azomite (Diatomaceous Earth) per gallon of water.

This not only has zinc, but many other micro minerals that plants love.

If you have a Tractor Supply store near you, they sell D.E. in the feed isle, marketed as chicken/farm animal supplements. Its really cheap, and finely ground so its fast acting.

The stuff in the hydro stores is usually pelleted, and therefore, slower acting.

Thanks! I did search around on the net and read about that stuff. I'll see what I can come up with. The problem seems to have gone away for now though. I gave them a good drench of plain water and they exploded in growth since then and the discoloration has stopped. I'd still like to keep the azomite on hand though, just in case.
