Yes, as a couple they loved politics, wanted to participate to make a difference and worked their asses off to do it. Politics at the national level is a total life commitment- exactly because of the shit you just said, only most people won't call you on it.

How do I know them? I was an Arkansas resident when Bill was governor and I met them. Delivered Chinese food to them for lunch. Little Rock is a small town...

But look, to be President, you really do need to start young. That's how most people get weeded out.

In 92 I voted for Perot. He lost
Clinton came in and had a great idea.
universal health care. And to spear head the effort was the first lady.
I didn't vote for her no one did. So why was she addressing congress?
