House and Garden DWC question.

hello RIU buddies! i have a question about house and garden nutrients when used in DWC systems. I mostly run Advanced Nutrients, but i do run a few of H&G products in conjunction and i love them, so im thinking about switching to H&G, but theres one problem. I have read on h&g website that they recommend using a circ pump instead of air stones because i guess the air fuks w the compostion of the nutes or something. we all know that it would prolly be a little bit impossible to do a dwc w/o air lol. so i posted that question on the h&g website and they answered that u can use air stones in dwc systems w h&g nutes. the answer totally contradicted the website, so idk what to believe. thats where all yall come in. i would like to know if anybody has ran h&g nutes in a dwc before and if so how did u like it? also has anyone ever used tried AN and H&G in a side by side comparison, and if so which is better?

I am skeptical that air will cause a problem with any nutrient. I think you should just try it.

Better yet, switch to Humboldt Master A&B and forget all the problems.

H&G is way better than AN! Aqua Flakes by H&G is probably one of the best 2 part nutrients on the market and is made specifically for recirculating systems. AN makes lots of bogus claims that are just not true, and though you can use them in hydroponics they are really designed for soil mainly and soiless at best.

Dont worry about using air stones as we use plenty of air stones over the years with H&G products and there is no worry there.

H&G also adds extra iron as the water pumps can deplete your iron from the solution if special precautions are not taken. H&G is one of the only people I know that takes this into consideration for there formula's that are made for recirculating systems. Another great company that specializes in Hydro nutes is Dynagro formula's. There bloom alone one part formula is GREAT product to use for MJ

Cheers!

FYI- Humbolt is just a copy cat company that happens to copy rip off artist like AN!! User beware! Dont be fooled by the hype and the 30 different bottles of crap they push! If your serious about growing, then you want to make sure and go with a serious company like H&G or Dynagro that do not play the market hype games and push 30 different bottles of crap!

Hey man I just bought house and gardens aqua flakes, and most of the additives. I am also setting up 10 dwc bubble buckets 5gal and plan on running h&g the whole time. I use house and gardens in a water farm for two weeks now and everything has been great. Fantastic results so far, but it only been 2 weeks. Keep us updated on what you find about h&g and dwc buckets. Also how do you plan on using yours?

I have 10 dwc buckets all single unit do not connect to any Res. I like rdwc but there are too too many problems in it if you do not get it exactly perfect and I don't see my self ready for it yet. I will run it in the future when I am ready with solo units. Anyways, I will change each buckets nutrient every Sunday and top them off throughout the week. How about you?

The H&G line produces AMAZING results. This is my 1st grow & luckily someone recommended H&G to me before I had purchased my nutes. I do NOT think I will ever use anything else. The shooting powder is amazing stuff!!!

I run H&G in a DWC system and I've never had a problem with them. I use Roots Excelurator in veg and shooting powder towards the end of flower.

H&G sucks when it comes to their feeding schedule and website... Makes me so fucking mad sometimes.....

H&G is a great nute line really clean and low in salts, I'm using the Cocos in a recirculating top drip beautiful results and I'm a week away from flushing. My only gripe with H&G is that they have a shitty online nutrient calculator about a month ago it was offline for like 2 weeks and the website said they were updating so I called and asked why not keep the old one up while making the new calculator, the dude says " we had to take it down because it was wrong" I was like WTF ?? I been feeding my plants with your calculator..They are always so fucked up with their feeding schedules and nutrient calculator its so annoying because they are cost a pretty penny. Their entire line will run you about 320 bucks. Worth it though in my opinion some really great nutes their coco line is the best.

I use the cocos with top drip recirculating with no problems!! Just change the res every 5 days or so.

Hi everyone,

New to RIU, but not to growing, I started with with a C13 - Maliboo cab for all of you OGers out there.

I have been running H&G Aqua Flakes for the past year now after switching from GH and I must say it definitely is an outstanding line up. Very very clean nutes, everyone comments on how smooth the flowers are and how clear the concentrates come out. I run DWC with no real issues running the entire program.

Two things that I do suggest is, make sure you have RO water and adding silica seems to help strength branches as well. I use Pro-Tekt with great results. H&G finally brought out some Amino Treatment which is Silica + more, but my sample test run did not go so well, so I'm back to using Dyna-Gro again for the time being.

Good luck!

I love H&G. No issues here with the DWC. Currently use AquaflakesA/B, Multi Zen, Root Excelerator, Top Booster, Bud XL, and Shooting powder. Additional nutes are Cal/Mag, Dyna-Grow Protect (silica), and SM-90.

I switched from Lucas and never looked back. I am much happier

We are using the same base + additives. H&G has been impressive to say the least!

However, I didn't use any silica and I'm not familiar with SM-90. Can you fill in the gaps for me?

The silica promotes cellular strength within the plant.I use it at a about 5ml/gal. The SM-90 is to keep the root zone clean and prevent unwanted pathogens from growing. It will also help stabilize your PH I have found and make your nutrient solutions smell like citrus excellence. I just started using it for my most recent run and will ALWAYS use it from here on out. Its created the best looking roots, plants ,and clear solution.

I wont be using their amino additive at this point. Maybe later down the road

thx everyone for their input. sounds like everyone loves h&g, which is a very common reaction for people who have tried it. i have had great success w AN, but it seems like they have too many different additives which are designed for profit generation. idk it just makes me wonder how much of it is necessary and how much is just bs.

H&G is good but expensive I wouldnt use it on a large scale grow. I use their entire line minus the amino treatment. The addatives go a long way but here in AZ i ended up spending about 350 dollars for their entire line and probably had to re buy 3 bottles of A&B.

HOuse and Gardens in my opinion is the best bang for your buck. I dont know what you mean by bottles, by the 5L jugs here in east cost is 80 bucks for A + B. This lasts for a very long time. I can understand how the 1L bottles run out very fast. Its like soil, once you buy it you will use it for a long time. But the larger you buy, the cheaper you get it. Basic economies of scale.
