Hours of light for end of flowering

I have a question about lighting. I have recently heard two different things about the amount of light to give as you get to the end of the flower cycle. One source said to give the plant as little light as possible, preferably no light, once you give the plants the final mixture of nutrients. The other source said to step down the light over the last few weeks. Start with 12 hours light, then 8, 6, etc. Any thoughts/experiences with either of these methods? Thanks.

I wouldn't step it down, as there is no reason to worry about the plant's hormone levels (unless you are re-vegging).

I always give 48-72 hrs of pure darkness before harvest. Seems to work well enough.

Then you should have taken some clones before flowering. Re vegging just doesn't work all that well. If you do it, you'll see just what I'm talking about.

Just keep your lights at 12/12 all the way through. Get a couple of grows done and some experience before you start trying alternate cycles.
