It's been a while since I posted to this journal. I stopped posting mostly because very few people were visiting and responding. It's important to note that my love for growing does not require any kind of validation from this community. That said, the way in which I document my efforts has certainly suffered as a result of this. So - regardless if I'm talking to myself, I am going to continue where I left off.
Chapter 6 came and went. It my was my 1st ever attempt at living soil and it went very poorly. It was also my 1st attempt working with Bodhi gear. The Lemon Hashplant samples reviewed very well despite looking sub-par. The Guava Wookie samples reviewed very poorly despite looking amazing. The Sunshine Daydream samples were a mixed bag. They certainly did not look fantastic but reviewed decently. I take full responsibility for the sub-par reviews and, as I said, it was my 1st attempt at living soil and it went very poorly.
Chapter 7 was a larger Bodhi experiment but again, it was also a living soil experiment. I realized in Chapter 6 that the 0.9 gallon containers I chose were way too small. I ended up going with 7 gallon containers and I made some adjustments to the soil recipe. Things went much better but far from perfect. I still had a lot of problems but not as severe as the previous attempt.
I ended up with the following plants:
(1) Cobra Lips
(3) Super Silver Hashplant
(3) Forest Queen
(2) Hashplant 4 (Chem 4 x G13)
(2) Hashplant D (Chem D x G13)
(1) Soul Food
Midway thru flowering, the cobra lips starting throwing nanners and by the time I caught it, it was too late.
Was it a hermaphrodite?
Did it throw boy parts due to stresses? I had altered the light schedule from 24/0 to 12/12, back to 24/0 and then back to 12/12 due to problems with some of the other plants. But it was not for an extended period of time.
All of these plants finished flowering. Samples were sent out and seeds were collected. None of the flowers were, what I would consider, ruined with seeds. Some had more than others but all in all, the amount of seeds was fairly low.
All of those sample were shipped out in late December and I decided to run the last round of Bodhi genetics that I had. I planted the following offerings - mostly 5 seeds or more of each:
- Herer Hashplant
- Lemon Lotus
- Lemon Hashplant (I had already done a round of these and they were great)
- Strawberry Goji
I also had a couple of non-Bodhi things that I wanted to experience:
- Sensi Seeds #11 - They had recently released some experimental crosses that looked interesting.
- Humboldt Chem
- Humboldt Green Crack (I hate this name)
These were kind of fillers but also I just wanted to see how they looked.
At the very last minute I also planted a bunch of the Cobra Lips crossed that I had just made (accidentally).
Many of the seeds did not germinate - I think they were too fresh.
But some of them did.
My original objective with these seeds was:
A) Are they actually feminized?
B) If so, are they going to be hermaphrodites?
Well...14 sprouted and 14 were female. Yes, they are feminized.
Were at 53 days of 12/12 and not a single one has shown any signs.
This pretty much gets us up to date and I will resume posting here regularly.
