Hose for bubbleponics

Hey just curious what size drip should I use on a bubbleponics setup? I see most look like 1/4" but when I've tried to buy the tubing, Im seeing alot of 1/2" and even 3/4" which seems like over kill. Also anyone got a good link to a site with a good cheap irrigation kit?
 
they use the bigger hose so the clogs are less .. smaller hoses are more apt to clog due to nutrients and sludge or small pieces of junk.. then the only thing to unclog is the tip.. also it is easier to hook up to a pump vs the smaller hose.

Hey thanks for the Reply, so should I stay away from the 1/4"? What are they using as a manifold?

some outside growers use the 1/4'' to just run off to there plants from a bigger hose.. like 1'' hose as main line then the 1/4 lines running to the plant sites..,you CAN use 1/4'' tubing but you will see that the larger hose will work better.. as far as a maniflod they have pressure heads that hooks to the hose and it regulates the water pressure so you dont blow the sprinkler heads out of the tubing ..
 
3/8" pump 24/7 keep water level high(up to the plant) not under netpot you'll see the fast early growth,unreal,I never seen anything like it.I picked it up from Heath,tried it became a believer.It's not as much help in flowering but you'll be ahead of the game. By keeping the level high it will not waste time making those big fat roots (forget what Heath called them) they waste a lot of energy.

Feed hose is most often 1/2" - Then you use a punch and barbed fitting to go to 1/4" or whips with stakes.
I'm looking into the Halo drip rings which I believe can be run directly off 1/2" hose which I have a shit ton of laying around.
 
Hey guys thanks for those responses. I build one bubbleponic unit with the 1/4" water line, since theres so many articles showing how thats done.Seeing some fast growth BUT i see what everyone is saying about it getting clogged up. And it does it for no real reason. Anyways, so im building my second one with 1/2" hose. But im still comming up with a way to replace the manifold. ill post what i come up with.

I started with 1/4" as well, since that was what I was seeing used in some of the guides I read. I switched to 3/4" after a few weeks and glad I did, I suspect I would have a lot of clogging with the 1/4". Can buy little screen covers for the bulkhead connectors inside the buckets to supposedly help prevent roots growing into tubing and clogging things, but I had someone tell me the screens would make things worse and clog easier than without them. Many ways to do things I guess and just gotta find what works for you. Good luck.
