Does anyone use miracle grow + flora micro and Epsom as a coco fert for veg? Or does anyone make their own ferts from base chemicals? Or does everyone just buy ferts?

I grow in coco. I use calcium nitrate and a premixed micronutrient blend in veg. In flower I use the same and add some monopotassium phosphate. I supplement with a dose of potassium sulfate midway through flower and a couple doses of magnesium sulfate.

I haven't bought bottled nutes in over ten years. And I don't use calmag either. People say you need it when growing in coco but the calcium nitrate supplies all the calcium needed. What gets me are the coco specific nutrients that use a different form of nitrogen and then sell you an additional bottle of calmag. Calmag is just calcium nitrate mixed with magnesium sulfate "epsom salts". And I'm already providing that. I buy the stuff in ten pound boxes. Years ago when I was using the name brand bottled nutes I was spending four or five times that much and the plants didn't grow any better. I use the same stuff on houseplants and in the garden. You don't need fancy nutes to grow weed. It's just another plant.

But like Renfro says, look into Jacks or Megacrop. Megacrop is one part and jacks is similar to what I'm doing. It's a blend of micronutrients with the P & K in one part, another part is calcium nitrate, and the other is epsom salts "magnesium sulfate". It's just split up a little differently than what I'm using. Both are good choices. Don't fall for the fancy labels.

There's a good thread on here called "reverse engineering your nutrients"
It has various nutrients broke down and how to make them using dry salts.
