I agree and would take it one step further and get a 6 tube 4' T5 . If my math is right you've overstated the numbers, your fixture only produces 39k lumens and requires 588 watts of power to run. a 6 tube ho t5 will do 30k lumens and run at under 324 watts of power.
i was also taking the amount of watts into consideration, i now have 5 4' shoplight fixtures , houses 10 48" 32watt t8 bulbs ...... bout 320 watts or something, cant remember exactly, but it was around there. 27,000 lumens or so , just fine for me to veg

Very cool dude. I have been lookign for something like this for an 8 bulb fixture. To be honest though I have no idea about how to wire that stuff together. Could you show some kind of step by step or something? Also, do all those bulbs wired together have only one plug to power it? Thanks man.

yeah running 600 watts is 600 wats, and a 600hps or mh would blow that out of the water, maybe get an umbrella hood(48" in my flower room se sig for pics) just a thought cuz power is expensive!!!

For $20 at Home Depot, this fixture will do the job cheap and requires no special wiring AND it has a light-reflecting chrome finish.

You can use "Y"-adapters to get a 12 CFL array. The fixture also comes with the mounting hardware.

The problem I have with this is, for one you're paying for that "reflective" decorative item. two It cannot be modified to fit your closet, grow room or whatever should it require a specific size/dimension. all that prefab stuff is great blah blah, but you're still paying so much. This fixture I created was with stuff around the house and minimal purchasing. I put that together for under 30$. I am sure there are people out there that can mimic, improve on, or adjust to their specific needs, and THAT is how an idea becomes a Juggernaut. If anyone wants a step by step on electrically wiring this or similar things send me a private message and I'll help the best that I can. I will be off for a day or so, AND today 12 plants move to their new flower-home for 9 weeks!
